    Introduction and tower question

    Hi! I'm new to Tige but not new to boating. Went half on a 1988 Ski Nautique with a buddy, after college. Great budget boat, biggest problem was lack of space.

    My buddy lost interest in boating, so we sold it and I wanted to upgrade. I had a list of "wants" and a budget...got everything I wanted in budget, except a v-drive setup, when I bought a 1998 Pre2200i last fall.

    I have a list of small projects I plan to do, mainly cosmetic, and I look forward to using this site as a good resource.

    First question - I keep the boat outdoors during the boating season. It is covered but the tower is always exposed. It looks like there are dried-on water spots all over the tower, is there any cleaner that will remove them? It is a Monster Tower by the way.

    And I know the rules, here's a pic from the day I bought it...

    Mike, Welcome. Congrats on the new boat, looks like it is in great shape for a 1998. I may not be of much help on the tower question though. My last boat and current boat had painted towers. My suggestion would be to try Water/vineagr mix in a spray bottle. 1 vinegar/10 water, that is what I use for the entire outside of the boat for wipedowns after a day on the water. Of course, wait and see what others have to say as well, I have been boating a very long time but our Z1 is our first Inboard boat.

      Welcome to the site, and that's a nice looking boat! It even has the best stereo upgrade money can buy, a Fresh Air Exhaust!

      A 50/50 water and vinegar solution will disolve the water spots, but you can use a more diluted solution as well. That is if the anondiziing is intact.
      The luck is gone, the brain is shot, but the liquor we still got.

        Try the vinegar. If they are really really bad, then use Lime-Away. Try not to spill any on your vinyl. I would get a rag and put it on the rag and then just wipe it on. It will take them off.

        I would do it at the lake and then wipe it down with lake water afterward. The new spots will be easily removed, since they have not been baked on for weeks or months or years.

            I remember someone saying that flitz polish will work on metal to get the waterspots off as well as make it shine.

              1- vinegar/ 10 water on the water spots. Mothers or Flitz on the tower. I like your boat!!

                Thanks guys. I'll start with vinegar/water mix and if that isn't enough, step it up to the lime away.

                Its been a great boat for me this season, but I look forward to making some improvements to it.

                Thomas - I love that decal, PM sent.

                And about the wakesurfing, I'll be starting a new thread on that soon, still trying to get the setup figured out.
