    Adding Ski Pylon to R20

We are looking at buying a used R20. The one thing that the boat doesn't have is a ski pylon. Anyone know how involved of a process it is to add the Tige pylon to a boat that didn't come from the factory with one?

Any information you have would be helpful. Thanks.

I am not sure what the supports look like under the R20, but it would involve drilling and building a support structure.

Thanks for the reply! I'm wondering if the support structure is already there and the pylon just attaches to it, or if there are components that are not added if a pylon is not ordered from the factory? I've called a couple of dealers and nobody seems to know the answer.

We had Tige leave off the pylon on our RZ2 (love not having it -- to each their own). It is my understanding that everything structurally is the same, they just did not drill the hole and bolt on the pylon. I was told we could add a pylon at any time.

I would call up tige directly, i have heard great things about their customer service.

The R20 doesnt come with a ski pylon though, there isnt even a hole for it. The necessary bracing wont be there.

I just got an e-mail reply back from Tige. According to the e-mail it's as simple as ordering the pylon, drilling the hole for it, and then bolting it on. There is no additional bracing or hardware required.

            Thanks for everyone's help.

No real bracing in our RZ2 either. Hopefully Tall will chime in here soon about "pansy pylons" and we can get this pylon bashing party started ...

So, Six, you gonna tow tubes from the pylon or the tower?

Heh, well actually the plan is to tow a couple of kite tubes from the tower while simultaneously towing a large tube from the ski pylon.

The pylon is an option on the R20. But do they have a solid engine cover if it's ordered without one? I need to look at some pics I guess.
                  Waiting for another good one!
