"TAPS" Setting

I have taps set to 1.5-2 so the wake wont be too steep.

1. If the taps is set at a higher number (6-7-8)it would produce a larger wake, correct?

2. Would we have to add more weight to the front to mellow out the wake but at the same time still keep the bigger wake with a higher number?

The taps plate simply cleans the wake, IMO you have plenty of ballast... i only have 1400 lbs total then 8-10 people so im close but not as much, but my wake is amazing, it is firm and tall, but the taps plate simply adjusts the sweet spot by tilting the boat slightly forward or back.

How fast and also how long is the rope length those are important. I ride 23.8mph at 75' and adjust the taps to find the sweet spot. I usually end up in the 2-5 range due to the rope lenght being long.

Taps will not "create" a larger wake, like said above it'll only clean it. In my slough sometimes I have to run taps at around 3-4 when I'm towing upstream and I'm at times up at 7 when I'm towing downstream. For me, it only cleans both sides as needed.

More weight in the rear will make the wake bigger. More weight in the bow will make it firmer with nice lip and give that pop everyone loves. Less weight in the bow and it'll just soften up and you'll end up just cutting right through the wake.

I find the 'sweet spot' by adjusting the speed slightly to get the wash just behind where the board meets the lip.
