AWESOME! Thank you! I'm going out to experiment with it immediately. I'll report back!

      It works - halfway.

The important part works. I can set the speed of five presets. I haven't tried them out on the water but have no reason to believe they won't work.

However, I can't find a way to "name" them. I tried pressing both up and down buttons together, but all that happens is the display scrolls continuously through the five presets. I tried various other button combos, and holding single and double buttons for several seconds, but never found a mode that permitted changing names.

But at least I have five presets now. Thank you VERY much, this is a HUGE enhancement!

Try going into the preset first and then pressing up and down together. or it may be the other way, press them from the first screen you come to with the 5 presets showing. I cant completely remember but its one or the other.

I tried both ways, both just scroll. In the first one (the list of presets), the highlight scrolls around. In the second one, the name and speed values scroll. I'll try again.

I just took a group of visitors on an evening lake cruise, which gave me a chance to play with the cruise control while the boat was actually under way. I confirmed that the up/down buttons only scroll through the presets. No combination of button presses, in any screen, allowed me to change the name of the presets. Not a huge deal, but it's odd that it doesn't work.

I checked the firmware version. I have "VDIG 1.01". Anyone know what the latest version happens to be?

                Update:

I just reflashed my Medallion firmware from V1.01 to V2.0H. I'll report back when I've done an on-water test, hopefully later today. One nice extra: I now have the ability to name my presets as described earlier in this thread. Apparently that's a feature that was added sometime after V1.01.

                More soon!

                  Prior thread http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10575

In short, there is an over-throttle issue (ie, does not catch set speed), a screen freeze issue, and a blank screen issue in the 2009s.

The 2.0.H flash reduced issues but did not eliminate.

There is a new Medallion controller available. This fixed the freeze andf blank issues for me.

But my Speed Set will still miss at least once per day.

I haven't experienced the freeze and blank screen problems. I hope not to. Sounds like perhaps you had a hardware problem with the earlier controller. A replacement of the same version might have fixed things, but happily you got an upgraded hardware rev in the deal.

                    I guess I'll just have to do some intensive on-water testing. Oh, darn, the things we must do in the name of R&D. {grin}

Many of us had the same problems. I do not think anyone has it fixed entirely.

Most of the remaining issues regarding Speed Set catching the set has to do with "hammer down" versus "feather" throttle. If you hammer down, ie, drop the throttle hard right away, then it most always catches. If you feather, ie, roll up slowly on the throttle, sometimes it will miss. Most of the time you can bring it up to just past idle slowly, then hammer down and it cathches fine.

What drives me crazy is you can do everything right and occasionally, it will just not catch. It seems to happen most when I am in the water and the driver swears that everything is done "right"

After an all-day testing session, I can report that firmware 2.0H behaves basically the way you described. It does add the ability to name the presets, and it does seem to have reduced the frequency of problems, but we still experienced the "unexplained shutoff" at least twice. It's exactly as if the Cruise Control switch had been turned off - except that it wasn't. Turning it off, then on again, made Cruise Control work again. But I'm saddened that it didn't stop the shutoff problems completely.

We did around 30-40 cycles ( speedset pulls) yesterday and did not have a "run away" which is good.. I thought we were going to have a perfect day until the screen reverted back to the "main screen" towards the end of the day..

On the new software, how do you make names for the pofile(s) ?

That's exactly what happens to us, too.

With the profile "selected", press both the up and down buttons simultaneously. The name will be highlighted. Select the letter/number/space for the current character location and lock it in with the center button. Repeat. If you make a mistake, there is no backspace so you must start over. (This latter point surprised me as it's quite common to have a "backarrow" that, when selected, acts as a backspace.)
