    Doesn't Start?!?

Hey all, I am new to boating and learned by accident this weekend why my brand new RZR wouldn't start. After turning off the engine and getting ready for the next session I went to start the boat...Tige' touch came on...but the engine didn't turn over. After a bunch of attempts and a slow drift towards a rocky shore I got it to start. Whewwww! Didn't turn the boat off again that day.

Later learned that you can't ease your shifter into neutral. It doesn't send a clear message to the transmission. The boat still thinks your in gear! Just pull that throttle right back until you hear a nice click, turn off your engine and rest easy that it will turn over when you are ready to hit the wake again.

Anybody else have a similar story?

Welcome to the TO forum! Post up some picks of your RZR when you get a chance, would love to see it.

Sometimes it can be the simplest things...sounds like you didn't fully get the shifter into nuetral. And as you found out, it won't start while in gear. Did this once by accident myself on an older boat. Looked everywhere and tripped every switch, then noticed the shifter wasn't vertical....doh!

I've never done it but I have a good story about my buddy Jay and his SV-2..

So there's Jay out on the lake one evening with a few prospects. They've been relaxing with a beverage or two just floating in the open when Jay decides it's getting late and time to pull out. Goes to fire her up and nothing. Tries everything before regretfully accepting a tow back into the dock. The ladies were not impressed and Jay was at a loss. He called me the next day and I went over to his place to offer a hand and see if we couldn't get it to turn over. I jumped into the boat and saw the problem immediately but figured I'd play with him a little. I lifted the engine compartment and poked around for a few seconds before acting very worried and instructed him to go get us a couple very stiff drinks.

By the time he'd returned I'd lost my composure and just had to laugh. He'd lost a new girlfriend or two and was out the $20.00 he'd offered his tow-in but at least the boat was fine.

He hates it when I tell this story too btw. I'm sending him the link via email right now.

It happened to me once. The shifter was just barely out of neutral . Hasn't happened again in the last 2 years.
