    FORGOT THE PLUG!!!

    DOH!!!

So this past weekend we launched the boat, I parked the truck, and my wife was heading towards the dock to pick me up. As she turned I noticed the bilge pump was working over time..... I starred at it for moment thinking, "Man, the bilge pump is really working over time. Huh?" It hadn't clicked yet.... Took about 5 more steps, and BAM! It clicked.... THE PLUG!!

In a mad dash I ran back to the truck, backed the trailer in, and my wife got the boat back onto the trailer. I just pulled the boat out far enough up the ramp so that it could drain and put the plug in.

Luckily my wife wasn't pissed, but she has yet to let it go. I got about 4 txt messages day with PLUG references. HAHA!

Just thought I would share. It was tense, but I can laugh about it now.

Glad to hear you still have your boat.

I think someone should ask BigKahuna and Majestic about a similar story. And then I can give my own unique perspective.

          WOW, glad that worked out.

I always pull my boat out to the end of the yard and stop and check the hitch to make sure everything is hooked onto the truck ok and check my plugs. I could see me forgetting to put it in if I don't do this.

Tige must not have told you we were testing the new gravity-feed ballast system

I can only hope you have a nickname already that is strong enough to hold of this one.

I did the same thing 3 years ago...

It's more common than you would think to forget the plug.

I did it once in high school with my dad's Ranger bass boat. I acutally leaned over the transom and put my head underwater to reach the plug.

Now I keep the key and the plug in the driver's seat pocket.
The luck is gone, the brain is shot, but the liquor we still got.

I did it two weekends ago. I had 42 effin' kids hollarin' and screamin' and just being kids and that noise just irritates the hell outta me. I wasn't thinking clearly and making sure they are all secured, etc I didn't have my mind right...
yup, I backed the boat in and fortunately I went back to turn on my perko and heard the water rushing in. At least I was still on the trailer. haha
                    Waiting for another good one!

Been there, done that, in my MC.

Bad05 put me out of my rhythm and I forgot the plug at Lake Mead. Sad coincidence that BOTH bilge pumps failed at the same time, so I did not have that nice run of water to let me know I was an idiot. I was pretty fortunate that we did not talk any longer on the ramp, because by the time I got back to my boat tied up at the dock, water was almost up to the floor. Bad05 commented on how excited I must be that I already filled the ballast and the swimstep was already 5 inches under water.

It cost me a starter not long after that.
                      DOH!
                      Be excellent to one another.

My X-Star cousin did it on the 4th of July - had pulled the boat out to change the oil, clean up, etc. Put the boat in while we all waited at their boat house. Here he comes flyin in like a wild man screamin "Get me on the lift, I'm sinkin! The plugs back at the shop!" LOL! So then we had to make a 20 mile drive to go get the dang thang!

We always take limes with us for the mexican beer. I left the plug out once, and to keep it from going donw, I twisted a lime into the hole.
My kid ran to the truck and met me at the courtesy dock with the plug. I replaced the lime with the plug and ran the bilge dry with the pump.
So this monkey walks into a bar...

A lime!!! That is hilarious! I too have been there done that, but thankfully (knock on wood) not with the Tige yet. Both times with our older boats at least we were still on the trailer or in the marina.

I too have done it, but not with the Tige (yet), just with my hunting boat. Didn't have a bilge then, so I would drive around until the water emptied out.
