    Z1 Boat and Truck Accident

After a week long vacation in Norris Lake TN, family was returning home to OH on 15 Jul 2011. The weather was sprinkeling rain at the time and all of a sudden we felt a big "push" hit from the back end of the trailer. The next thing I knew the trailer with the Z1 boat was sideways along the interstate (past our side window) taking the truck sideways along with it. We hit the cement barrier, slid along the side until the boat crashed into the barrier and jack-knifed the trailer against the truck for another 180 spin in the opposite direction of traffic. The back nylon tow traps snapped in half, emergency brake cable snapped, trailer came off the ball when it was locked down with a padlock, but the emergency cables kept it to the truck! Nobody was hurt! I am sure the Z1 and probably the Nisan Titan truck is totaled. Should find out this week. Got home to OH at 2:30 AM with alternate transportation. NOT FUN AT ALL.

The driver that ran into the back of the boat admitted to police he ran into me causing the boat to get out of control.

Now I need to decide where to go from here. I am sure the insurance will take care of it. Not sure if I want to start all over again with a new truck and boat!

By the time the tow truck got the boat on the flat bed, the whole underside of the boat is gone. Here are some pictures.

WOW!! Could have been a major disaster.. I'll take the trade of losing a truck and boat over a loved one. Glad to hear you all walked away from the mess..

surprises the hell out of me the little damage to this boat after such a major hit to it compared to the other guy who's boat is MISSING it's Aft, Port corner after another boat hit him. Kinda puts the severity of these impacts into perspective. Not discounting this accident at all either.

This makes me feel terrible for you and the row you have left to hoe!
                      Waiting for another good one!

Damn. What a horrifying experience. Sure glad that all were safe and uninjured. But what a pain.

Good luck with getting it all straightened out quickly.

Sorry to hear about that. I hope everytime that I travel that nothing happens.

Good luck on replacing your boat and trailer.

If you do not want a new Z1 I saw a 2008 Z1 on CL in Denver.
