Come buy my 08 22ve for $50,000 I"ll even take you surfing.

I wouldn't buy any boat without driving it and looking over every inch of it. I bet that boat is a repo. TO member Mls bought his 22ve there and it was in great condition, but no test drive would = no sale for me.

No way then. Definitely would have to test drive. Brand new is the only way I would do it without a test drive. Even then it is probably not the smartest thing to do.

I bought my boat without a test drive, but I did a TON of research. I was going to buy an 06 Mastercraft X-Star that had 150 hours, and then I came across my '08 20v. It was brand new, and the price was almost $10k cheaper. I was skeptical of Tige at first, but after doing the research, and seeing the reviews I was sold. I couldn't be any happier with this boat, or any other boat for that matter. I have had the boat just over three weeks, and it has 17 hours on it all ready.

Im a dealer and I wouldnt buy without a test drive unless it was a model that I was already familure with, does the dealer have any customers with a simular model that could give you a run?

Always always do a test drive (sea trial)!

Even if taking delivery of a boat you ordered, do a sea trial BEFORE signing over the check.

Just plan with the salesman for another day to sea trial the boat. You could always put a refundable deposit down to hold the boat until you get a chance to drive the boat and make sure its what you want. Its a shame you are on the West Coast, my 08 24ve is for sale for a tiny bit more, I would take you out all weekend. It does seem kind of wierd that in this market they wouldnt make time for you. If I was still in sales I would be out there with flashlights trying to close the deal?

I assume this is the boat at Stayton - if so you, Joel is a stand up guy and I am sure that he stand behind the boat. He is known for taking care of his customers - heck I call him on his mobile from the lake and he has helped fix the problem or given guidance. Negotiate a bit of a warranty in lieu of a test ride.

Be happy to give you a ride on a RZ2, Saturday, but the 22VE is a tad different.

Absolutely do not do that on a used boat.
Even a short warranty is hard to use when you are 6 hours away. If you are spending 45K, You should miss work to get it done on a weekday. On the other hand, tell the dealer how serious you are, and I can't believe they wouldn't work something out. Do all of the paperwork today by fax, test drive tomorrow and use as little of their time as possible.
                          Be excellent to one another.

Maybe try to make arraangements to have the test drive after hours...plenty of daylight right now for that. If it is at Stayton, Detroit Lake is the place where the test drive would be. As another said, Joel seems to be a pretty straight shooter. Yes, sales is #1, but he strikes me as someone who would get you out on the boat. Saturdays maybe very well be busy, just try to make other arrangements with him, which I am sure you have done. I would suspect if you have been in serious negotiations with him on the boat, he will be willing to work something out with you.

Good Luck and hope the deal works out for you.

We bought our tige with no test drive, but when spending 45k I can't imagine a dealer telling you they "don't have time". They should be more than willing to set up a time with you after they close to take you for a ride.
