I have a 2008 TIge Z1 with the ZF Marine transmission. Last time I checked the transmission fluid was 20Hrs. ago when I had the dealer change the engine and transmission oil. Today after taking out of the water I noticed a little red fluid residue in the bilge so I checked the fluid level...None even on the stick. Looked over the engine best I could but could not find the source of the leak. Is this a leak or can I use 2Qts of transmission oil in 2 months (25 hours0? Any suggestions? Is there a drain plug on the transmission?

You shouldnt be using any transmission fluid ever. That unit has a two liter capacity in the trans and a one liter capacity in the v-drive. The trans has an external fluid cooler and the v-drive has an internal, so fluid to water exchange is possible but usually results in a pepto colored overfill. If it's not showing on the stick it may be leaking from the front seal. Check under the engine where the bellhousing meets the trans and feel for fluid or wipe with a paper towel to determine if it's there.Fixing everyone elses boat just so I can use mine...

I have a 2008 22VE, and I noticed, the exact same thing. There would be red fluid floating in the water and when I check the trasmission, there would be absolutely nothing on it. I would put the boat in the water, fill it to the line on the dip stick, run it, and within a few hours (longer at first, then nearly every 2-3 hours) I would be running low.
I finally found the culprit. There is a bolt located just about the dipstick that had loosend and was leaking the tranny fluid. The way I noticed it was I took off the cover and took a strong power flash light and looked while running at fully power and I was able to located this way.
I think I posted pics of this, would check there first. The worst day of boating is still the better than the best day of work......, unless you bend your prop.
