    Steering Cable on 2008 Z1

Has anyone replaced their steering cable on a 2008 Z1? Although I am getting a great work out steering my boat, it is time to replace it.

Dealer wants to charge me $400 in labor + price of cable. Should I just pay or is it something I can do myself?

What is a good cable to purchase if I do it myself?

    Any tips would be appreciated.

Also, Do I need a lot of working space around the 3" hole in the helm that feeds through to the under floor area? Reason I ask is I have a customer sealed speaker box mounted there that will be extremely difficult to remove.

its actually only maybe an hour or two job. hardest part is getting the uber tight nut off the end of the cable (will need a large crescent and good strength).

in mine the cable ran very easily - i ran it over the fuel tank vs uner since so many on here think being under is why they go bad so quick. you need a teleflex ssc15419 if im thinking right and the cable is around 150-$180 and easy to find.
