While buttoning things up in the engine compartment, I happened to look under the engine and noticed the steering cable's outer jacket has some rub marks where it has sat against the fittings on the stuffing box. With only 17 hours on the boat, that's not a good sign.
I'm going to experiment with zip-tying it away from the stuffing box, but wondered if anyone else had seen this. There's not a lot of play in the cable, it's almost like the cable is a few inches too short.
