    Wake Surf Side...?

Does it matter which side of the wave you wake surf on? My port side wake seems nicer for wake surfing but I'm a goofy stance rider so my back would be to the wave... I have seen people on the other side of the wake and their back to the wave but I wasn't sure if it was more difficult riding that way..??

It'll be harder getting frontside air with your back to the wave fer sher.
    Waiting for another good one!

Its all about what u r comfortable with and have most fun. u will see all kinds of variations. My wife slalom skis goofy but surfs regular on port side - go figure.

Most def.... Maybe I will try to switch the stacne up.. been riding goofy for 13 years on the wakeboard so I don't think it is going to change much though... Thanks for the input

Hellz yeah... Gotta get my frontside air on! Got up last weekend.. first time.. it was nothing.. forgot the regular rope though so had to use my wakeboard one.. not to mention my GFs dad did not get the concept of how slow u are really suppposed to go.. so once i pulled myself in it was very difficult to get a ride without the rope...Then when I had the rope it was all tangled in my hand and took my focus off the wake.. not to mention the speed was all jacked up and only had my gf and her mom in the boat.. so no weight at all.. next time im bringing the big kids out... stuff some extra beer in the rear hatches too... Check out the vids and let me know... I love it already even though I'm a beginner/nobody

I ride goofy stance and have tried frontside and backside, obviously backside is more of a challenge. I have tried riding switch frontside which is fun also so keep all options open and try them all.
Definately slow the boat down to play with the wake form.
FYI, never ride with the rope dragging or bundled up in your hands like that. If you fell and got wrappped up, you could get your self seriously hurt or killed.
I ride with an old wakeboard handle and I take up the slack in the boat. I usually guess where I need the handle to be behind the boat and wrap it several times around the tow point to avoid making knots in the line. After Im up and surfing I toss the handle to them other side of the wake or back onto the platform/boat. Congrats on the first ride, wake surfing is very addicting!

Thanks.. I knoe it was dangerous from the get go... but I guess I wasnt thinking..Could have been bad though. I forgot the wakesurf handle that day so I will be sure to have her on board next time.. good thing I had my Helmet on.. lol.. Thanks for the input and yes it is addicting.. I also tried wake skating for the very first time that day.. it is almost as addicting.. I think the fact that you can ride with no rope is the most appealing part. It is very weird to get so close to the back of the boat.. feels almost dangerous.. but I suppose the boat is always moving foward so you should be okay if you fall up close even.. I have seen some sick videos of people riding close as $hit though... I think I'll wait till I'm a little more comfortable..so next week sometime.. HAhahaha

perhaps review driving procedure w GF dad and have him visit Wake9.com for vids there too. In my view....Good wake surfing happens when three things come together; ballast setup, driving and rider. Holy crap per that video WAY TOO FAST......10-11 mph is norm.

Here's a thread on RPM and ballast.

Yeah, you gotta slow down. Looks like you're doing about 17-18mph with that wake. Get yourself a good wakesurf rope. I got one on Evo for $35 and it is great!...

These accurates are my fav. We are going on like 4 years with the same rope, and we use it constantly.

I am not familiar with the 2100V, but every Tige I have seen puts out a good wake on both sides, you just have to learn how to dial it in. Sometimes one side may be more "touchy" than the other, one side easier to dial. Just weight that rear corner to get the rubrail within about 2 inches at rest, so that at speed the water is at or close to the rubrail, but the rubrail should be above water. The shoter boats also usually need weight up front to lengthen the wave, I like to start with people on bow, maybe 2 people on surf side, but start with 1.

Experiment when conditions are clear and as flat as possible, and never weight past what the conditions deem safe. Start at about 11mph or so, you can go as low as 10.5 usually, and as high as 12.5 or so. Boat speedos very, if you have an iphone or similar with GPS, use it to check your speedo. My RZ2 is off by about .5 MPH, and my Ve was off about 1mph.

Hope that helps. Have fun, and be safe.

Oh, one more thing, it really helps to pull new people from the side of the boat, not the top. We made a special "surf tow" to do this, but you can just loop the rope around the top corner. It keeps the rider on the side of the boat, and doesn't pull them in the mush, or cause them to have to "drop in" after getting up.
