ballast fix the old fashioned way...

My port ballast wouldn't fill this summer altthough I could hear the Jabsco ballast puppy pump working. I was going to try opening the pumps to check the impeller when I thought back the good ole days of 1979 during the last gas crisis when you literally couldn't buy gas for a while or had to buy on even/odd days corresponding to your license.

Using skils learned from that mis-spent summer, I unhooked the fillhose from the enzo bag, started the pump, remembered how we 'purloined' some gas from a parked car for my budy's 1970 Gremlin, gave a quick suck... Heaerd some gurgling, & I was back in business.

I think we needed the gss to go dee the Marshall Tucker Band in concert @ the Mississippi River Festival @ SIU- Edwardsville....

Sounds like an issue somewhere in the system as the Jabsco pumps are self priming and shouldn't need suck-started.

Kinked hose, air leak, impeller stuck in the drain position, etc. After draining, do you run the pump in the fill mode for a second so the impeller flips? This is a good thing to do.

I wonder if I had a problem in one of the check valves or air bubble somewhere. Will remember to flip the switch @ end.
