    What is This Loose Screw??

I recently was working on changing out my steering cable and noticed this screw was loose. I tried tightening it and probably got 3-4 turns then it was tight but was not all the way in so i backed it back up to the point where it was before since i have never had any problems. Question is what is it and whats it screwed into. That is the transmission side of the engine under the back seat dirrectly in the middle

Looks to me to be an adjustment set-screw on the shift lever.
