Poll: Do you use a surfboard leash?

Do you use a surboard leash? I'm trying to learn how to spin a 360 with a surfstyle board and may times I get off-balance, send the board flying and am left with a longer than desireable swim to get it. Are there safety considerations in order? What am I not thinking of???

Have the boat pick it up if it shoots that far... But seriously?

    SWIM!

Dude I agree but when I've taken 15 falls because I can't figure out this 360 I get frustrated. Then I realize, duh the guys in the ocean use them. Why not me?

Whatever makes you comfortable on the water is how I should've answered. Consider that the ocean riders are dealing with waves and currents that can really send you swimming..

Maybe if you surf on a faster moving river?

Think of the swimming as the aerobic excercize you're not getting when you surf!

I feel your pain...I have only pulled off 3 of them in 4 years. This past weekend really put me a lot closer to being consistent. Slowing down your rotation is probably the key.

I'd like some comment from the "would never use one" folks on why. Is it comfort? safety? lack of need?

GORB? I can only guess... LOL

                  I voted "would never" because:
                  1. need to fix it to my board and I I don't care to do that
                  2. can't really perfect my superman with a leash
                  3. it doesn't go THAT far that you can't really swim... you got a PFD!
                  Waiting for another good one!

I would think that the leash might interfere with the rotation, and I've never seen a wakesurf board with a leash (I've ony been doing it two years though).

Lack of need. When I go crash, I usually reach down and grab the board. If I lose it and have to swim, oh well, it's part of the sport. Ocean surfers have to paddle their board so I think I will ok swimming for 5 seconds to get my board.

GORB = Geek on rental board.

Shove its! And often times if I fall on a three I will grab the rope and pull myself into the grid. We will then turn the boat around and grab the board.
