    Water in engine compartment

I've noticed I'm getting a bunch of water in the engine compartment lately. At first I was thinking maybe my front ballast tank is leaking but I think I would see more water under the front seats.

I also started reading other posts about leaks from the drive shaft seal. How can I tell if this is the issue and how do I get to the drive shaft seal on a v-drive to tighten up the bolt?

You have to take the back seat off. Once it is off take it out for a drive and see if it is leaking. To take the back seat off you have to remove several panels but the engine is exposed and you can check all around for leaks.

It is tough to get to but the seal is right beind the v drive.

You mentioned your front ballast. Have you checked that all your pumps are good? Was it winterized good? There have been some that have had the pump split and water leaks out of it.

Thanks. Great thought on the pumps. I'll check that out too when I have the seat and floor off.

Turns out it was the trans cooler hose leaking. I must not have gotten it on tight enough when I winterized it last season.

It's wasn't as easy as I thought. It turns out that the transmission cooler flange has collapsed. I must have tightened the hose clamp too much when I winterized it last year. I tried to bend it back out which helped a little and I managed to get the leaking stopped. Any opinions if I should replace the cooler?
This sucks. Next time I'm going to see if I can struggle to get to the actual plug instead of taking off the hose for winterization.
