New trailer tires!

I'm looking at new trailer tires after blowout on I 10 in Tucson during rush-hour... ill score it as FML on a 1 to 10 scale. I have Goodyear marathons on now but I'm looking for suggestions if anyone has experience with a better tire. Any inputs are great!

And if anyone knows some boat people in Tucson, also helpful because most of the people I've met here think that boats come with a brake pedal...

I've had really good luck with the Goodyears. Make sure it wasn't a bearing issue or something that caused the blow out.

Good Year Marathons are what I would/did get. I can tell you this they are way better than the carlise trailer tire my boat had when I bought it.

Go 6 ply over 4 ply and drain your ballast every time!

Every Carlisle I ever had blew out. Not one blow out with the Goodyears.

I have had the tread separate off the tire with 1 year old Goodyear Marathons, They may be a good tire but I'll never run them again, The tire did not blow, the complete tread came off at 60mph, tore out my tail light and bent the fender on the trailer.

Just make sure to check the DOT code - doesn't matter what kind of tire you buy if it is 3 years old when you put in on. My Carlisle have a DOT code of 2005 and the boat is a 2008. I ordered a new set and they sent me a set manufactured in 2008 - sent them back for a set in 2011. Tires do have a shelf life - check whatever set you buy and demand the latest manufactured tires..

X2, and make sure the tires are inflated for the weight of the trailer, most trailer tires are under inflated which causes blowouts.

I have good luck with the Goodyear Marathons. I check the tire pressure every time before I leave the house.

I have had nothing but good success with Carlisle. I think the parent company is Goodyear anyway?

The key is what has been said before. The DOT #. I replace them after 4 seasons and before the 5th one starts. The tread still looks great, but the tires will more than likely give out.
