I am purchasing a 2006 20V. Did you get Ballast with yours? Any comments about the boat?
We did not get ballast in ours. The deciding factor for us to go with Tige' over the other boats we looked at was TAPS. We are a family of skiers and did not want to give up a decent ski wake (which it has) and have the wake capabilities for boarding without giving up storage space for ballast.
I realize that someday we may want an outrageous wake and add the ballast but that's doubtful unless the grandkids get really, really into it.
I share Tigeone's sentiments about the 20V. We've got almost 25 hours on ours and love it but if you noticed in one of my previous posts I do wish I had ordered the Perfect Pass option.

Ballast
As far as I know they don`t come with a ballast option. That is what the TAPS system is for,and by the way it does a great job.The other difference from the 05 to 06 is they took the part of the seat out that goes across the walkway to th bow.I think it looks better and much easier to get through.I tell ya,this boat turns on a dime and will give you nine cents change!!No doubt a great boat.easy to drive and load on the trailer. You can be like 45 degrees off at the trailer and it will bring you right up on the trailer even if you hit the guide poll !! Ask my wife she hit the pole at about a 45 degree angle and it bounced slightly and pushed us right straight again, gave her a little juice and bam we were on the trailer. No sweat!! I have driven other boats but none corner and handle like this thing.also when you are ready to take off make sure everyone is sitting down and hanging on,very very responsive.Going out again this weekend, can`t wait!!! HAve fun everyone!!!

The Tige product manager told me you don't need ballast on the '06 22Ve we rode in, but after watching my son ride, he changed his mind I got the impression that it was an option, perhaps a dealer install option?Cursed by a fortune cookie: "Your principles mean more to you than any money or success."

I can't wait to get mine. I am going to start with no ballast and then do soft aftermarket tanks if needed later. One of the main reasons I went Tige is how the boat handles on the water. It turns without the big lean and it is very responsive. I hope the 350HP engine will do the trick.Exerciz101

lawnjockey,
I posted on another thread under the V series heading titled ballast or not. I agree with you 100%. We have a switch V and it needs tons of weight. We run about 1800 to 2000lbs plus people. I still don't think the wake is that huge. It amazes me when people say that Tige's don't need ballast. I have a friend with a 22V and they run 2600 pounds in it.

I have a 2004 20V, which I am very happy with. I do wish that I got the factory ballast system on mine, I was convinced with the TAPS system that I didn't need it. I rode behind a Malibu a few weeks back with the a full ballast system and the wake was huge (that was without the wedge down). If you buy it from the get go, it would only be about $10 more a month, otherwise adding it later will be $1K bill.

Wish I'd got the ballast when new, of course I've added a lot of things after the fact, lowering the initial price of the boat. Glad I did get a few things up-front like Perfect Pass and tunes. If life is a waste of time, and time is a waste of life, then let's all get wasted together and have the time of our lives.
