New Serpentine Belt

I just replaced my serp belt. My was 5 years old and was making some belt type noise so I replaced as prevent maint. Took the old one off and took it to the auto parts store. During this process, I detected that my engine water circulating pump made a mild screech as I spun it with no belt. The bearing is going out. You may want to take a close look at that item as it will tend to cause a bit more damage if it freezes up perhaps more than the sea water impeller.

Hmm...don't like the sound of that. The thing I can't figure out is why it stopped screeching as soon as I lubed up the impeller, and then started screeching again a few hours later. If the bearings were out in the water pump, it would have kept screeching, regardless of what I had fixed.

Consider the hours and age of the boat. The bearing in my water circulating pump squeels at higher rpm. when a greater load is placed on it,,,I expect that to worsen..I intend to wait till the off season. I suppose if your sea water impeller was binding,,it would cause a additional friction on the serp belt. Something must be coming close to ceasing.....

The boat is a 2003 and has about 150 hours on it. It squeals as soon as you start the engine at very low RPM's. I will probably replace the bearing as well since I have to take the whole pulley off.

Let me know the outcome if that resolves it. Mine,,1999,,345 hours, is going to need the circulating pump replaced,,ideally on my terms scheduled as opposed to an unscheduled event.

Hi, i have a 2003 20v tige riders edition. i am from england and my serpentine belt has recently gone. i can give you an address if you would like to check up on it. i am sure they post worldwide. not sure how long it will be though. anyway. marinetech, stoke on trent, staffs, england. Hope it helps
