I did not know which thread to post this under, seeing this is the culmination of two projects I did this offseason. So I created a new thread.
I completed the Smoothing out the RZ2's swim platform back in April - http://www.tigeowners.com//forum/sho...+Swim+Platform
Then I did the Removing Built in Cooler just a couple weeks ago - http://www.tigeowners.com//forum/showthread.php?t=14813
I must say I am very happy with the results. First off, I am relieved that the added wood and filler to the bottom of the swim deck made the 45 minute drive from home to cottage with out falling off onto the interstate.
This Memorial Day weekend was not the best weather wise but we were still able to get in the 60 degree water. I took some pictures on Saturday afternoon when the wind was still blowing. So the water was not the best.
I filled the Dark Side sac completely full. I calculated that with the Cooler removed I was going to gain over 200 pounds of water. Whatever the final extra pounds are, it made a huge difference (My Sister-in-law asked me if we could tip over.). I had to increase the speed of the boat 2 mph so I did not have an extremely steep and short wave. Once, I got the boat speed set to 12.4 mph and TAPS set to 4/5 the wave was long and still provided a ton of push. I rode the wave Monday and I was getting lots of push from 10-15 feet behind the boat.

The smoothing of the swim deck also made a big difference. With the entire Dark Side custom surf sac full the swim deck was 8 to 12 inches below water at a stand still, so the swim deck was dragging in the water while moving. Unfortunately, I did not get a good picture of the results, but the smoothness of the deck removed the secondary lip on the wave. I noticed this when I rode Monday. It was a smooth wave from bottom to top.

I would recommend both of these projects to anyone that is thinking about it. They do not take much time and effort. If you need help let me know and I can give you pointers/tips from what I learned.
I will continue to update with pictures once we find a day with out much wind and I have more time to play around with weighting and my wife is not driving, watching kids and trying to take pictures of her husband surfing.
