It is the upper device with the exposed terminals. There are two small wires near the base coming from the ignition switch (start position, and the two larger wires make the circuit from the battery to the solenoid on the starter.
what part did you ask for at autozone? I checked them out and found that the closest starter relay part they had was too large of a base to mount on the block.
What specific part number did you request? 89-96158T ?
Does anyone know where the starter solenoid is for an '07 20V? I see one on the starter itself, but is there another one like the picture shown above?20180715_171557.jpg
This sounds identical to what happened with our Z3. Don't wait like we did and it ended up smoking on us at the lake. Had to get a tow...not fun. Mine would even blow the 20 amp fuse in the top relay box. Every 6 or so outings.
