I feel like there is more push without the nose weight.

You need weight in the front for a long pocket. I am running 600 in the bow. But I am also running 1850 rear sac, 250 transom sac and 100 lead brick on the floor.

ok we drained the bow sacs and the wave jumped up a foot or so...AND I was able to do about 4 or 5 pulls without the rope..pretty cool but still it was a balancing act most of the time cause the pocket was short and I was close to the boat.

Before I was running 500 in the bow with only 1650 in the rear. Today we ran 1800 in the rear and that was it..nada in the front. One observer who was a solid 200 on the wave side..

Looks like I need to order some more sacs...Duffy seems like your 18's are making a lot of sense to me right now

Is there a ratio of front to rear weight that I should be considering?

I'm thinking of getting a 300 pound sac for the teak deck and using my bricks for midship.

My 1500 fills all the space AND I'm wondering Duffy how you fit 18 friken' 100 pounds in those lockers

Nicky I'm always lookin for crew. Today once our flag person left at noon we were forced to go with just a driver and surfer. Dicey..and earlier we were lit up by the coast gaurd. Pretty blue lights flashin'. They were curious to our 'listing' but were ok with it after we explained it was for surf. Nice guys actually and lucky it was too early for 'sodas' or 420. The good thing is now they know our boat and should leave us be.

yah you deff want the bow weight for pocket length... Just add more to the rear till it balances out and looks good. Gonna take you alot more weight beings your 24ft

Your so right AND I'm starting to figure out that it takes alot to sink a TIGE 24V. I can't believe how much freeboard there is AND I can't believe I'm buying another sack

Haven't been following the entire conversation regarding the weight distribution but if you haven't tried it I would really recommend taking a smaller fatsac and putting it on the swim platform. I know this sounds a little crazy but it really adds to how the boat goes through the water.

At the end of last summer, (05 22v) we had 800 in the rear locker and 260 behind the driver plus peeps sitting on that sac, about 150 in the bow. All this starboard side. Wave was good. But this year we are running 800 rear locker, 300lbs of peeps behind driver, 150 in bow and about 150-200 on the swim platform. Seems to make difference. That moment arm of the weight being behind the transom increases the effectiveness of that little amount of weight.

The sac I am using on the platform is a 260 sac but filled only 2/3s. I take a couple of ropes and cinch it up to the grab handle on the stern and the bag just folds (a little) around the ropes and it will go no where. Works really great. It's my form of the "getto" ballast member sagmanaur has posted about except he uses a "storage container with lid" that sits on his platform.

One of the things I like about using the sac is when you are done surfing and just hangin out, you can drain the sac and now you have the full use of the platform.

I can take a pic if you would like to show you what I mean but I suspect you get the idea. Seriously give this a try.

Just commented on your other post. This is effectively doing what "getto" ballast is doing. I love this idea.

embo we have been using a 150 brick on the teak deck. Now I think tommorow I'll take the other 150 behind the driver and toss that on the deck..300 total on the swim platform and then I'll start filling my twin Nautique sacs in the bow ..maybe little at a time 'till I find the right weight

I like the bricks cause I don't have to drain them between sessions AND it's not as hard lift as a 200 or 300 back into the boat. There is no Tsunami on the boat so my bonus sacs will stay filled while on the bouy

wicked cummins that's wicked how much space you got there.Too late for me unless I want to switch out to bigger sacs this season

That is great! I guess I should have read a little more. I think Ragboy has said he usually has a min of 400 in the bow and at times has 2 (400s) in the bow on his boat. I guess those 24Vs need a little more ballast then the rest. You proably will be getting a HUGE wave when you are all done.

My new employment should be taking me up to the Tahoe region more and more. T'would be tight to sneek in a midweek afternoon session.

Well done with the 5-0. Been there. They are usually pretty cool if you just take the time to show them what you're up to and all the upgrades you've done and don't forget to mention the safety improvements you've made to your craft. They love that chit. Just don't show 'm the contents of the glovebox.

If I'm boating at a location for like a week or so or more, first chance I get, I'll chase down the Sheriff and ask him for the most recent copy of the state boaters handbook. Have there been any revisions or new regulations added? Blah, blah, blah. This almost always ensures a friendly wave from Mr. Sheriff as he passes you right by for the rest of the year. A little preventative maintenance.

Thats only on his RZ2, his 24ve didn't like front weight. My 22ve doesnt like it either and I have played with it plenty of times. Last night we had my custom 1K full, a fat brick in the back corner one person in the seat and a driver and it was perfect
