Ok, here I am launching my boat for the 2nd time. It is 70 degrees and sunny, but relatively quiet at the launch. I am getting back to the boat after parking the SUV and we are getting ready to go. My wife usually unties and shoves us off while I drive at the launch. The motor is running and all I am thinking about is backing past the boat on the dock behind me. This is my first inboard, so I'm being extra careful. On the opposite dock, a woman is driving an older Malibu off the trailer and a guy is helping on the dock. Behind them comes an aluminum jet boat, coming into the dock too fast, gunning the throttle and spraying his jet 20 ft behind him.
There is room for 6 boats behind the Malibu on the dock, but this guy comes at the Malibu and guns the throttle wide open! What was this guy thinking? Maybe he can't get in reverse? His keel plows over the swim platform and up the transom of the Malibu and shoves it across the water towards my side of the boat ramp. He shoves her into the opposite dock about 20 feet in front of me.
Everyone was ok, but obviously shaken up. The keel split the rub rail on the transom. I have seen a lot of fools at the boat launch, but never seen something like this.
