What are you wanting to do? Ski, wakeboard, surf, all of the above?

I'm old enough that I ski, but would like to wakeboard. Have kids 6 and 8 that would like to tube, teach to wakeboard. Have a deal with the wife that I can buy a boat for the season, but if she can't take it I'll sell, so want to buy a boat that will be marketable.

That will be an excellent boat for skiing and tubing. It will be good for beginner wakeboarding. I think if you could get it for around 9k and it is in good shape, you could get your money back after a season.

I almost bought one just like it but ran across a deal on my boat that I couldn't pass up.

What does the wife want in a boat? Buy one that she will be comfortable in and will do what the family wants, and then worries about needing to sell it.

Your wife will become a true believer when she sees your kids having the time of their lives on a tube with their friends, she will beam with pride as you have other family or friends aboard. She will become a double believer when she sees how little bowrise the Tige inboard has vs. an ordinary I/O.

Then after one season, she (and you) will want a V-drive to gain more space instead of having the engine in the middle of the passenger space, you'll want storage lockers for the tubes and such, and you'll want a tower. You could buy a Monster Tower for about $1000-$1500 and put it on yourself to extend the life of the boat.... and with a tower, it'll sell in a weekend when you put an ad in Craigslist saying Wakeboard Boat. V8. $12,500.

BUT, I think this would be a great entry boat that you probably will be able to sell for about what you buy it for. Just be a caretaker of it for a year or two and keep it in good shape for the next owner.

Best 2 days in a boaters life:
The day they buy the boat
                and
The day they sell it TO BUY AN EVEN BIGGER/BETTER ONE!

Amen! - I get so irritated with people that tell that stupid old cliche to me right after buying my boat as if I'm not mature enough to know whether I'll get the amount of use out of it to warrant buying it. Sad thing is, most of the people that say this have never even owned a boat themselves. And, if they did buy one, it turned out to be POS because they didn't so their research, bought something ultra cheap thinking it would be simply ready to get the crap beat out of it with no maintenance, or it was bought by a husband while the wife wasn't totally on board in the first place. I hate it when they take their bad decision making out on me with their sassy comments

I'll second that one. The day I sell my boat I'm gonna be sad. Even if it is to buy a bigger/better one. It has become part of the family and a lot of "firsts" have happened because of it. I proposed to my wife in it, taught my entire crew to surf, my kid's first ski rides, all the time and effort in upkeep and years of trouble free operation...I'm gonna have to interview potential buyers to make sure they are going to care for it.

If you are happy when you sell your boat, you bought a POS.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

Thanks again for the info. I truly hope my wife will get into it and we can incorporate boating into our lives. I grew up boating, and love it. I don't love it enough to let it seriously come between my wife and myself though. The kids have really enjoyed the test drive we did, and my son surprised me that he knew what wakeboarding was before I even started showing him pics and videos.

I grew up around Correct Crafts, so I don't know much about Tige as a brand. What years they went composite (I'm positive this boat is, right?), when they added injection, electronic ignition, company history that might lead to bad years etc. Like a Mastercraft 205 from 1996 is a much better boat than previous years. etc.

Anyone know if the PRE2100wt 1996 specs are the same as the 1997? The published specs stop at 97 and I'm looking at a 96.

I completely agree. That old cliche is completely ignorant of the enjoyment of boating. As a kid learning boating safety and my dad giving me incremental privilege to use the boats as i could assume the responsibility was a huge part of my upbringing. Further, many of us actually enjoy putting labor and thought into maintaining and operating machines. I think that old cliche distills it down to an expectation that we're supposed to get instant gratification out of things without having to put effort and responsibility in. There is risk in stepping out of the amusement park boundaries for your fun...

I'll second what Nicky said. I'll be sad when someone buys my boat.

My wife thought I was nuts to buy our Tige', since the previous boat I only had for five months. It had no open bow, a huge engine, wouldn't fit in the garage, the passenger seat faced backwards...

Now she's the one asking me to get it out of storage.

I will never get my money back on it, but I'll sure get my use out if it.
The luck is gone, the brain is shot, but the liquor we still got.
