    Think I Found It!!!...Two ?'s

I think we finally found a good deal on basically a new boat. It's a 2010 Z1 with 14 hrs. It mostly has just standard options except tower speakers, bimini, mooring cover, and tower lights. Here are the two small drawbacks:

    1. Doesn't come with a trailer
    2. Has the smaller 303 cu-in 275 HP engine

    So the questions are:

    1. Anyone have for sale or know where I can get a Z1 trailer? What price range should I be at for a new one?

    2. Is the smaller engine going to bring any real issues for us, especially since we are at 5000 ft in Colorado? Will this still work good for us? Wakeboarding and surfing are primary uses. Top end speed is not an issue, we never go fast. Dealer who sold boat says that this engine is PCM Fuel Injected and NOT a carbuerated engine.

It is priced right and hard to pass up a new boat, but please give honest opinions on this. Here are some pics - Thanks!!!

I think a trailer is in the neighborhood of $5,000 give or take depending on the tailer. You might try getting a hold of Mark Gibbs at Boatmate to see what he can tell you.

As far as the engine it would be better on gas. Depending on how much weight you use to surf it might be an issue. I will let others chime in.

Boatmate makes a trailer for it, I'm guessing 3-5k depending on how much you pimp it up

So does it have warranty? Was it a demo?
Have you got to test drive it?
Looks pretty sweet but I'm biased

Im guessing this boat is not at the elivation where you will be using it, so you cant experience the performance for your self. The 275hp @ 5500ft would take a heck of a prop if a lot of ballast was going to be used. Down here @ >1000 ft, I wouldnt hesitate to jump on a Z1 with the 275.

Have not driven it yet since it's in Lake of the Ozarks, MO on that boat lift shown. I wish we could, but given that it only has 14 hrs I'm hoping that there are no issues (one would think there shouldn't be). It was purchased new in June of last year by private owner, but he has a bigger better boat than this "small" tige and doesn't have time to use it. Supposedly there is a one time warranty transfer that will cost $350 to transfer motor warranty and $500 for components (both for two year period). Thanks for the compliment, I've been juiced all day!!!

At this point I don't intend to add ballast, but that may change once we start wakesurfing and want more. Will it be that sluggish if we don't have ballast?

At our elivation, a simple prop swap will compensate for the ballast added. But at 5500 ft above sea level, a prop change is required just to get back the performance it had at the lower levels. So going up in elevation and then adding ballast, I couldnt say to be honest.

Trust me, if you are going to surf, you will want ballast.

May not be a good comparison but my first boat had the entry level motor. Still the worst purchase I have made to date.

I have the factory ballast and added a sac from mikes liquid audio this winter
It has the MP 320hp With a 537 acme prop and the lake we boat most is at 5300'
she has no problems moving around loaded and top end empty is about 42 mph. We upgraded from a 19' crownline also you are going to love the Zee

if you like to surf you will be getting ballast soon though

majestic can you expand on why you didn't like the smaller engine? What model was it on?

Thats a sharp Z1... can't comment of the base motor, we had the MP 340 in our 22ve.

I know you said you were looking for a 22ve originally, our 2007 22ve is for sale at WWS in Denver. Let me know if you have any questions about it...

dude that boat looks killer! If i were you, id be trying to get something with a much bigger motor. Here in AZ, at around 1000 feet, we are needing a high alt prop because of the ballast when surfing. Granted we have a serious amount of weight, but if you get into surfing, your just going to keep adding ballast.
We have an 1100# (doesnt fill all the way so probly 900#) 300# up front, 2 250# that we move around, plus (3) 5 gal fresh water jugs which adds to like 150# i think?
on our 20v, the rub rail in the rear is underwater and water runs over the back cushion. We have the 6.2L blackscorpion...and it is struggling!

It should be noted that this is a lot of ballast for any boat and you don't need that much to go out and have fun on a surfboard. It doesn't hurt but, it isn't necessary. I have run ~ 800#s and 10 people at 6500ft with my 315hp Merc. and it has always held in there just fine.

Anybody have the torque figures on that motor?
You'll get your chance, smart guy.
