    Upgrade? FAE vs. Ballast

Ok. Which would you do first - FAE or ballast? We are pretty novice riders and we like to do a little of everything. I can either get a FAE system or add a fat sack with plumbing. We usually have enough people to weight the boat but there are times the extra weight would come in handy. Any suggestions?

I was in a similar situation and went with ballast. I don't know where you were checking for ballast but it might be that Chpthrl can set you up with something and you can still do the FAE.

I believe that you have already missed the FAE group buy, maybe they will still honor it, so it might be worth waiting till next year to see if they do another one.

I don't have an FAE. I would love to have one but I say Ballast first. I like the sound of the boat and don't notice too many fumes.

We put FAE on at the end of last season, wish i would have done it sooner. Excellent for cummunicating with the rider. Somtimes my wife and I go alone, and while one drives the other rides and we can talk easily without screaming. So for me I would do the FAE first.

If you had one you would think different on this.

Fat sack if you surf. Night and day difference.

Consider manual filling the sack the first season if that allows you to pop for both the sack and FAE.

FAE is a must. It makes the boat 5X more enjoyable.

Not sure what your total budget is, but a little over $200, you can get a 400# sac and a pump. less if you searched the forums for used. This might get you some ballast and enough left over for the FAE.

I would go for the FAE, and just do manual pump and sacs for a bit longer. FAE is like getting fresh air, safety, and a new amplifier for your sound system. It will make your boat so much quieter, the music and conversation is just that much better. And while moving, nothing but fresh air, no more nausea at the back of the boat at slow speeds.

Jeremiah, have you checked to see if they will still give you the discount for the FAE?

Larry at FAE is building a polished unit for our Epic right now. Jeremiah I've still got the manual 1200 lb. Fly High PRO system with Tsunami pump that I took out of our Tige 20V when we traded boats. Only used 1 summer and it's taking up space in my garage. I go through Lebanon every week on business and I could drop it off for cheap.
