    Advice on 1999 or 2001 Tige V21

    Hi All,

I looking to get a used Ski/Wakeboar hybrid boat that my Boys can enjoy wakeboarding (beginers) and my wife can enjoy sking (Slalom - Intermediate). The dealers in my areas has 1999 Tige V21 (15.5K) and 2001 Tige V21 (21.5K). They also have 2002 MB Sports 220 with similar hours (22K). My budget is up to $20K.
Would appreciate any info or advice you have.

    Some questions I have:
What is the main differences between 1999 and 2001 Tige? Are the 1999 and 2001 Tige V21 cosidered reliable boats?
Anything that I need for or check closely with those boats?
How would 2002 MB Sports 220 compare to Tige 2001 V21?

    Thanks much for you help

The differences in the 21Vs from year to year can vary slightly. One difference is probably the dash layout. My 01' has a different layout than earllier years that I have seen. Also the earlier models all had metcraft towers ons them and the later models had the Phat Tower on them. Mine has the phat tower and it is a pretty nice tower. The Metcrafts had issues with breaking. all of the earlier models had a black v-drive unit in them that is not gear reduced. some of the 01' models came with the blue v-drive unit which has a gear reduction of 1.46:1. Mine has the blue v-drive. I have not heard of this being a bad thing either way, besides the blue v-drives run better wit ha 4 blade prop and they are more expensive. Check the hours on the boat(make them check it with the tige scan tool) The hour meter on the depth finder could be off. If the boat has perfect pass originally installed you can check the hours there too.
I did not know this when I bought my boat and the PO advertised it having 150 hours. And this showed true to the depth finder gauge, however when I figured out how to check it through perfect pass I quickly realized this boat had more than 600 hours. However, that tells me how reliable this boat actually is. The only problem I have ever had with it is the impeller took a dive when we were on the water, which was no big deal, and the stereo master switch went out too. So in replacement parts we are a whopping $120 out of pocket, in 2 years.
2001 Tige 21V Fresh Air Exhaust, ballast, loud stereo, blue v drive, ACME 1235 prop Kneeboarding, Surfing, and having fun!
