I just booked my vacation for the summer down in Palm Island, Florida near Cape Haze. I was wondering if anyone is familair with the area? We rented a house that is right on the intercostal waterway with a dock. I was wondering if there might be some good area to wakeboard or should I leave the boat home and just chill on the beach? I know good water can always be found but I am just debating is it worth it? My boat has always been a lake boat and I am nervous about how rough the Gulf can get or what the saltwater is going to do to my boat. Give me some input guys.

I'll never put my Tige in the salt water. I had a 21' stern drive for many years and probably put it in Puget Sound 10 times. The boat and trailer were thoroughly flushed and washed after each trip. The boat was ok, there were minor rust issues on some of the non-stainless metal parts such as engine parts. The trailer took a beating from it, it had serious rust issues. If I had to put my boat in salt water (like someone is holding my family hostage and forces me to take them wake boarding in the sound), I would find a place to sling it in to avoid dipping the trailer. I would never buy a used boat that has been in salt.
