    First V Drive and Tige

Had my 2006 24V out tonight for the first time after I bought it this winter and was just curious on a few things. First one is, the sound on the inside when driving. It definitely is a little bit louder(engine, taking off and cruising) than my parents crownline which is an i/o board. Is this normal, it doesn't bother me, just making sure. Second thing is that when you take off, and then let up, its like its restricted and brakes back quick, is this normal? Seems fine though, just slows down fast. Last thing is, you can hear a little bit of the chops in the water on the inside and when they hit you also feel them a little bit. I guess I don't know if I felt that in the crownline. Which I think is a heavier boat. Normal?? It has a 380 6.0 gm motor in it if anyone needs to know that. It was amazing though!!!

It will be hard to diagnose the sound without hearing it. Your other concerns sound normal to me. The chop you feel is more pronounced than it would be on a Crownline due to the hull shape of an inboard tow boat.

I remember the Tige being louder than our Tahoe. Exhaust is out of the water and not coming out of the prop. Installed an FAE this winter and can't wait to (not)hear the difference, especially surfing. It will definately settle into the water quicker because that is how the hull is made. You will fall in love with your boat and never want to go back to the I/O once you get the hang of it. Remember too, backing up you have very little directional control. Search the forum and you will find explanation and help on that. Post up pics for us please and congrats.

Fresh Air Exhaust (FAE) will make all the difference in the noise level. At first I liked the low growl of my 24ve, but found it semi-annoying--difficult to talk/hear. After I installed the FAE--awesome. Oh yeah, no carbon monoxide or station wagon effect with other fumes--and it's the cheapest stereo upgrade you can make.

On the chop--play with the TAPS--it's not like trimming out the Crownline, but you can semi-adjust. But Laser is also right, it will settle into water quicker when you lay off gas as it doesn't get planned out as far as the Crownline.

Next time you drive in the Crownline, you won't believe how much bowrise there is on acceleration and how much it leans in turns, or how it probably lacks speed-set/cruise control. The more you drive, the more you'll love the vDrive over I/O.
