no mechanical problems and much smoother surf and less cavitation ,its aircraft aluminum very plyable and flexible with no permanent bending. i'm going to remove it and finish it permanently . still have stock prop but plan on getting 1235. was having problems with 2k surf ballast and breaking up surf with short abrupt taps .has anyone ever considered 3 taps center, port and starboard to finetune surf by way of pushing opposite side of boat into on coming water forcing opposite side down ,just a thought

Interesting design but I thought the ideal of taps was to raise the stern and push the bow down for a better ride. As far as boarding and surfing you raise it to let the stern drop and create a bigger wake. It seams counter-intuitive to make the plate bigger unless you are looking for a better ski wake. of course this is all here-say and conjecture.

i was surfing with taps at 2 to 3 for best curl and push ,now its taps at 1 and less problems with ski deck interruption but also helps in planeing with full ballast when trying to accomodate sufers, wakeboarders, tubers and family all in 1 trip

I haven't seen it on a Tige but Sanger had a surf boat that came with 3 plates and Epic had a Rip Curl edition prototype that does as well though they haven't made a production version of that boat yet.

The consensus with the 3 plates is that it doesn't really work. I have talked to people with it on their mastercrafts and their sangers. I built several custom wakeplates for my avalanche and the best was as 12x12. How wide is the flat part of the transom? I would think that should be the widest the taps should be.

I HTINK SLIGHTLY LESS THAN THE NEW PLATE AT ITS WIDEST IN THE BACK ,I MADE IT WITH A LITTLE WHALE TAIL FOR STRENGTH AND NOT A LOTA THOUGHT JUST EXPERIMENT,LENGTH IS 18" THATS WHAT I NOTICE AND SEEMS FLEXIBLE ALUMINUM HANDLES BOUNCEING BOW WELL. (NEEDS REFINING)

What is the goal of this plate? When the wave curls that is the effective end of the wave. I personally try to limit the curl as much as possible. Power comes from weight in the boat and listing. Do you have pictures of your wave from before and after? Are you trying to calm the rooster tail?

very true...the only thing i would think that large plate would do while surfing is change the water flow around the platform resulting in a larger wave.

in regards to the surf tab idea that MC has, my friends mc x25 has them and the work sort of counter intuitively.... i the way it works, or seems to work, is that it pulls up on one side and pushes down on the surf side, therefore throwing more water into the wave to clean it up, more weight needs more tab to stay clean... however they have kind of a mind of their and tend to adjust on you as the boat lists over to one side .rather than the tabs pushing the boat over they "throw" more water into the wave, at least thats what the dealer explained to my buddy
