Taps2 adjustment

We were out on our '05 24V yesterday and it ran great. Have a question about the Taps2 system. Can it be adjusted?

When looking back at the rider, the right side of the wake looks great, taps setting at 5 running at 22 mph, but the left side is washed out. I have played around with other taps settings and speed but the left side doesn't improve much.

I do not have a ballast system.

I'm no expert w/ Tiges but i have been around boats for most of my life. My recomendation would be to make sure you have pretty equitable weight on both sides. Even just a person or two, a big cooler, whatever, placed in the wrong spot could lead to a washout especially like that. Your problem may be more serious but its just something to think about. Isn't the TAPS in the center of the hull. Unless it is cocked I wouldn;t think it would change one side over the other.

Two things will cause a nice wake on one side while a washed out wake on the other. Weight distribution in your boat and how the steering wheel is being held.

Our boat seems to be naturally heavy on the starboard (drivers side). We usually need at least 1 extra person on the port side than on the starboard side to compensate. This helps clean up the wake.

I've also discovered that sometimes you need to turn the steering wheel a bit (not much) to clean up the wake. Again, I think weight distribution here may be the reason for that, but I can't tell you for sure.

I have two 65# carpeted lead bars on the floor that I use to adjust the weight so that the wake is clean on each side. You can move passengers around too, but a little fine-tuning is very common.

It is always the starboard side that is washed out. The boat seems to lean to that side even with the taps at 0 and cruising around 30 mph.

My friend has a '05 24' SeaRay Sundeck that has trim tabs on both sides of the boat. I understand that this is a completely different boat, but he adjusts his trim tabs based on the conditions to get the best even ride he can when he is cruising.

So it sounds like I need to look into what is causing the weight distribution problem...

Taps isnt going to clean up the wake side to side. If you have a 2nd battery, check and see where it's located. They should both be on the port side. That may help out. Otherwise, you'll just need to adjust where people sit, or keep some lead, like Paublo said.

i had to change where i was storing everything in the boat. i had 2 batteries, a jump starter, dual subwoofer box, tool box and a loaded cooler under the observer seat all on the left side of the boat not to mention that's also the side everyone seems to sit on. the wake looked great on one side but washed on the other. after that trip i took everything out and tried to put all the heavy stuff on the right side (that way people can still sit where they want) next trip out i noticed a big difference.

I just got back from spending 4 days on the Big Niangua at Lake Ozarks.

I paid more attention to where people were sitting and that made all the difference. With just a little people shuffling, which is easy by the way in the 24V, we had a great wake on both wides.
