WTB 2009 RZ2...help me find it!

As many may know, I sold my previous boat and am in the hunt for another.

I am looking for a few things that can only be found on a 2009 or newer RZ2. I would like the PCM engine (343 is fine), the 2009 and newer vinyl is a must, and anything BUT an alpha Z tower. That is probably a tough one there. I know it would not be impossible to swap out the Alpha Z, but I would probably take it in the shorts to sell it or be forced to send it to the recycler. If anyone knows of a buyer for an Alpha Z tower that can come and get it in St. George, Utah, then that would alleviate the concerns there.

Any color except all black is fine. Even lime green and black would be OK.

Price concerns have forced me into the 50K range.

I have put my dealer on the hunt, but so far I have not seen anything.

It is a tall order (pun intended), but I hoped you guys might know of something.

I need to get this done soon, because I have found another brand boat (gulp!) that would fit all of my needs and think I should act on that one before it disappears, unless I can find the right RZ2.

    Thanks
    Be excellent to one another.

I don't know if this is possible, but you may want to contact Tige and see how many of those boats were actually made without the Alpha Z tower in the first place. Since that tower comes stock with the boat and was the new thing, I seriously doubt there are many, if any, out there to be had. Also, my dealer seened to indicate there was significant difficulty switching types of towers. This may be because I was was looking at '07 and '08s wanting to put an Alpha Z on later. I suppose in your situation it would be just like putting on a different aftermarket tower. In the end I went with the 2010 because he wasn't even goign to attempt to put an Alpha Z on a different boat. Therefore, I think you'll run into problems trying to unload an extra Alpha Z tower. I understand your predicament with your height. Kinda sucks...

Either way, I think you found the name of your new boat.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

Going from Alpha Z to another tower would be easy, vice versa would be more challenging.

Good thoughts there...I know there was at least one 2009 RZ2 made with the Z tower, and of course it was all black.

And I could also consider a 24Ve as well. This one is close, but it is out of the price range and even small areas of black vinyl would be scalding where I live. But it is a 2010 with the Z tower.

Since I'm not a metallurgical engineer*, I'll suggest something that is probably impossible...

Could some enterprising welder literally cut the top off tower, the fabricate/weld/affix/structurally support an extension to make it higher, then re-powdercoat to make it look like it came stock from factory? It'd set you back a few bux, but if the Rz2 is what you want, it would be worth checking into.

Other ideas: Buy an existing RZ2 Alpha Z boat and...
-name the boat "Limbo" and dance your way under the tower.
          -Or call it your "Duck-Boat".
-Or pretend you are a giant among the Lilliputians....
-Or make your kids drive so you'll never need to go past midships
-Or pretend the tower is a religious totem/magic portal and bow to it as you near it.
-Or convert to Catholicism and kneel before it

          Good luck in your quest.

buy an '07/'08, scour the country for a wrecked '09+ and rip the dash and electronics out and install. LOL

I am assuming you do not want the alpha z due to the low tower design? What about the possibility of having the tower raised somehow, possibly a machine shop building a 6" spacer to raise it up, and powder coating it black. I am sure this is doo-able.

One problem with the riser would be that when you collapse the tower, it would be taller than the windshield which could be an issue when putting it into a garage.

Hey Tall, I don't know if the new R20 tower has any more headroom than a Alpha Z but you should be able to retrofit an Alpha Z equipped boat with that and it would definitely be easier to have a machine shop extend it

the brand new towers are also very tall, compare a 2010, i stand 6"1 and my head brushed the tower, the new alpha z and vector towers are much taller and i cleared them both with more than enough room to spare

Please elaborate...I think you are saying that the Alpha Z is taller now than in 2009?

There are 2 reasons why I would prefer another tower.
                      1. I am tall and that is a headbanger at 6'9"
                      2. The fam likes loud tower speakers and the Alpha Z sort of arches forward and the location of the tower speakers would blast out the occupants of the boat, whereas a taller tower can project the sound over the top of the people in the boat.

Me with an 09 Alpha Z:

when we bought our RZR (still being built) we looked at an r20 and a 2010 rz2. the whole family cleared the tower on the r20 and we are all 6 1 or 6 2, however brushed our head on the alpha z from twenty ten and expressed some concern, the dealer (long lake marine in maine) told us the tower was higher by about 5-6 inches and more comfortable for us 6 footers, this was observed on the vector but you may wanna double check because i never saw an alpha z from 2011 i hope the dealer wasnt just blowing smoke to get the boat sold.

as far as audio is concerned the pro 80s are designed to project sound because of their horn driver, i m curious to see how my 2 pro 80s compare to my friends MC speakers, he has to crank them up real high to be heard at 70 feet, making me go deaf...

This may be a problem for tall as they are huge. Also tall, keep in mind that the two inner speaker mounts are further aft than the wider mounts. The problem is, they are then more in the way of your walking path. As for the effect of the tower speakers on riders in general, I'm not the authority on that. MY wife and mother-in-law make me turn the music down so low I can't even hear it when the engine is running, so I don't even have tower speakers.

Also Tall, our boat is all black and red and gets really hot in the sun. I know you are even hotter than our 95 degrees, but i can tell you that those little colored or black accent pieces of vinyle on the seats don't seem to bother people at all. My 2010 also has a piece of seadek on top of the transom so you never have to put your foot on any gel coat getting back in if you don't want to.

The 2010 rz2 had the pro 80s at the inside posisition, and there were three of us walking around playing with things in the boat, and we are not small people by any meamns, none of us hit our heads on the speakers. I have had serious problems in one friends x star with 4 6 inch speakers, and have bumped a few times on MCs with outer speakers getting things off the rack, would assume the same could happen on alpha z if they were at the inside posistion, i also assume if you jumped out of the driver seat with pro 80s at the inside posistion you could rattle your brains pretty good so i guess its a trade off... i guess id have to wait until may when the boat is delivered to get all the deets
