    Holy S#&^7 oil filter

Every body please, when you install an oil filter on your boat or any engine, oil the dang seal, and dont be Herculese putting the thing on.

I just spent 2 hours removing the oil filter from my boat. who ever put the thing on never oiled the seal and tightened it so tight the top of the filter was touching the oil cooler. I tried a strap wrench, oil filter wrench, channel locks, screwdriver (just ripped through the metal) ended up cutting the filter off just at the filter base and making a spanner wrench to fit the outlet holes in the base. this eventually got it but took a long strong pull on the wrench to get it loose.

AT least he put a fram filter back on it.He had a cheap filter on it and mangled it before he started the video. The metal band wrench is the best tool for the initial try.Locate the wrench as high and close to the seal as possible. The filter is beefy up there. If it crushes there then go to a screwdriver or chisel on the top outer ring.By tapping there you should be able to get it moving. If not then refer to video and cut off housing.
I do all my own stunt work. hey ya'll watch dis.

I thought fram filters were cheapo ones. This link got me started thinking about oil filters. If you have a better source I'd like to read it, I'm always open to learning.

All of the info I have seen says to stay away from Fram unless you buy their top of the line filters.

From the looks of that gasket, it had been on there a good long time.

Been there, done that. Me and a buddy spent hours one night trying to get the filter off his '74 Cobra Jet. Ended up using an air chisel to knock it off after we had completely destroyed it. F'n nightmare.

I run the K&N oil filter on the Tige. It has a bolt head on the bottom for removal. So easy it's like cheating.

If it happens again, try some PB Blaster. Stuff works miracles and getting frozen on things loose.
