    kneeboarding promotion

I know a lot of you guys/gals are either surfers, wakeboarders, or foilers. I have noticed a lot of people have not taken a liking to kneeboarding. With recent improvements in the kneeboarding equipment such as the new HO agent board with the soft landing spine and the thicker more form fitting pads and double locking straps, kneeboarding has seen new levelsof tricks, and comfort to go along with the massive air we are getting on kneeboarding these days. Kneeboarding from inside the sport is making a huge effort in expanding, I have seen massive amounts of efforts within the last year from a guy named Frankie Panno who teamed up with HO and developed the new Agent board has dedicated a lot of time into the sport. I love the sport and feel that it can be a very good foundation for kids starting out in watersports, a 25 year old who is in his watersports prime going big and developing rapidly, or a 50 year old who has done water sports since early child hood. Most people dont even know what is possible on a kneeboard, or have a preconceived notion built in the early to mid 90s before the real kneeboard technology emerged. SOme of the kneeboarders out there are throwing some crazy impressive stuff, shredding gnar like no tomorrow and just plain killing it. there are great forums over at kneeboardworld.com that great people hang around, and organizefly-ins and get togethers that have great reponse. They are a group of people who are there to help and share the sport and welcome anyone aboard. Kneeboarding can be a great way to get the feel and basic manuvering of plain old riding, or help train for those big technical tricks on a wakeboard. Kneeboarding requires the assett of good technique and will help train yourself to learn technique before tricks and will ultimately make you a better rider in what ever your prefered sport is. If anyone ever wants to come kneeboarding, surfing, wakeboarding, or foiling you are welcome aboard anytime we are out. I can help teach kneeboarding, some basics of wakeboarding, the basics of surfing, or provide a pull for a foiler.

here are a couple videos that show just a small piece of what kneeboarding has come to.

I'm 51 and i still kneeboard from time to time.I think my best current trick is a wake to wake 360.Unless you think it's more impressive to clear a unweighted wake on a 22ve at 75 foot rope length.
I do all my own stunt work. hey ya'll watch dis.

The jumps are great, but the landings look pretty harsh.

In the first vid, I really like the rotating bimini with the board storage.

X2. I used to kneeboard in high school but after learning to wakeboard and how closely it relates to snowboarding I just stuck with that. I sold my kneeboard, HO Joker, to buy my first wakeboard, Neptune 6. If my kids want to try it I'll get another board, I can afford a few wakboards and a kneeboard now. Thanks for reminding me how fun it was/is.

I have never kneeboarded. That looks like a lot of fun, but damn those landings look like they would snap your neck.

yeah the new boards are nice and you can get some pop off of the wake but they still produce some hard landings... but its still fun to change things up every once in awhile

As long as it's not tubing, I'm all for it. I remember (and still have) my first kneeboard, the original Hydroslide Magna. I'm talking the first model year with the drop down fins that you had to drop individually. I got it for my birthday when I was like 10. No present has ever made me happier. It was a radical, state of the art design and I had one. I was going to light the world on fire with that thing and did in my own little world. I never saw anybody around who charged harder, made better turns or caught as much air as me. In my eyes, I was a genuine bad ***. I rode the living crap out of that thing and loved every minute of it. Now it just hangs on my wall as a memory of some of the best days of my life. Ahh, those mid 80's. FM radio, Ban de Sole #4, Flat Bottoms, Budwieser, Marlboros and my Magna.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

Is HO the board to buy or are there other good brands?

I used to kneeboard all the time, and I could get some pretty big air. Unfortunately my back is already paying for it. Using your spine as a shock absorber kinda sucks. While it was a lot of fun, I've taken to the wake kite as of lately. It's kinda like kite surfing behind a boat...the landings are nice and soft.

Harsh landings are all in technique, the bouncing after a landing is minimized in some of the new boards. The new HO Agent board has a soft landing spine which is supose to help cutting through the water and minimizing full surface contact making the board stay in the water. Riding some of the other boards such as the Joker, Obrien low rider, Obrien Rush 5150 etc if you land on a slight edge this will significantly reduce your hard landings. Instead of using your body to obsorb landings you let the water obsorb the impact with the narrow edge of your board.

A wake to wake 360 is a very nice trick, technical and stylish. try a Back roll and I bet you would be suprised at the outcome. I personaly believe rolls are much easier than spins. hit the wake, wait till your board is fully airborne and throw your head in the counter clockwise direction and pull the rope to your outer waist, keep the rope low, head up, and back strait. I bet you will land it your first day.

HO sports make some of the best boards available with the Agent, and Joker, along with O'brien and their Lowrider and Rush 5150. nice upgrades to any board is the adition of a Cinch brand double locking strap. They allow for a nice tight cinch and hold you on the board while still allowing for quick release while under water.

I am hoping to add to the mix with metal footman loops (the loops the straps go through) in custom variations and placement.

I commend you for your riding at 51, I hope to be doing the same in 24 years. I would love to see some footage of you kneeboarding if you have any or would take some.
