RZ2 Ballast Install Progress & Upgrades

Well - I pulled the trigger and I am in the process of taking that horrible 2007/08 design problem out of the equation (e.g. box over battery desgin in the v lockers). A little progress update - tanks are out, batteries and plumbing rerouted, and panels are in progress. More to come as I hope it is ready next week. As for the bags I debated back and forth for a long time over an enzo bag or two bags to accomodate different types of activities. I ended up ordering 3 bags - equivalent of 750lbs in each v-locker and a tube sac under the port side seats for surfing (380 lbs). Given I plan to uprgade the boat in the near term I wanted to keep it non specific to a particular sport - hence the three bag approach. This approach accomplishes what the enzo bag does with the flexibility for other activities.

A couple of other upgrades in the works - upgraded to the chrome 3-D Tige logo on the rear versus the sticker. Looks much better in person due the angle in the garage. Also adding a center cleats in the boat to make it much easier to tie up at the docks. Not sure why Tige does not have cleats at the widest point in the boat???

I put up more pics once we get all the panels and bags in. And of course the all important pics of the surf wake.

Starboard Side - Note taps unit had to be moved back. Not much I have seen out on the owners site regarding both tanks being removed - so just a pic of whats under those starboard boxes.

      Looking good.

Did you get the Tige decal from the store on here or somewhere else?

I got the decal from the Tige store - $100 bones is pretty high, but it does look really good.

Additional cleats is an option from Tige.

Thanks, very nice post. I really appreciate the information as I will probably be doing the same soon. I am curious as to how the battery and hydraulic pumps are mounted in the new location. Are you drilling fasteners or using adhesive to mount the battery boxes / hyd. assembly?

I am starting to do this as well. What Sacs did you buy and what panel material did you use to fabricate new panels?

Does your 08 have factory ballast or no factory ballast? I have custom surf sac options for either scenario.

.5" HDPE can be used for the panels.

chpthril it has factory rear hard tanks. I want to remove for several reasons. 1. To get easier access to the engine, rudder and bilge pump 2. Put larger ballast bags.
