Powell houseboat trip open invitation... $100/wk

I have offered something like this the last couple of years and struck out so maybe this third time will be a charm. Arrangements have been made to where the only donation needed towards the houseboat for the whole weeks accommodations is $100pp for the couple that brings their tige. I like to leave mine home to focus on attending to the house boat.

I am offering this to couples first because sleeping arrangements work better that way. I need a minimum of ten people to make the numbers work and will accept no more than twelve for everyone's comfort. This is a 54' private houseboat with all the amenities that I own the following week on however I have sublet that week for my $2500 maint fee and can rent the prior open week for less than half that. This week is tough to get people to go with kids because around here it falls on the last week of school. If this is a hurdle for you invite a trusted relative or grandparent to look after them for this week and come out and enjoy yourself... you will never get a week on a houseboat or any full week water sports vacation with so much available for less!

You would need to bring your between meal snacks, sheets and pillows and beverages.
$50-$75pp toward the main food tab to eat really good and you will have input into the menu.
The total gas tab will be divided equally at the end of the trip, roughly $100pp but can vary widely.

I have a fully equipped nearly new pro-craft fishing boat booked and available for shared use. I am hoping someone replies with a jet ski or two to share otherwise I will consider bringing a supercharged 215hp rxp I have access to.

Special consideration given to anyone's wife or husband that steps up for the food consensus and gathering and can opt out of paying towards the accommodations for their trouble. Cooking tasks however will be a shared activity. This means if you bring your tige and your wife makes the costco trip you both go for $100 and get to enjoy your boat for a full week for a fraction of the fuel cost.

Arrival day is Saturday May 21 at Wahweap marina for departure early the next morning and runs to the following Saturday May 28th.

Apply with as much information as you can about yourself and what you like to do on the lake for best consideration so that I can pick the best mix of people. I have a full compliment of water toys including a sky ski and can have anyone confidently flying in that weeks time.

If you have never been to Powell this is my favorite time of year to go because the days are not too hot and the evenings cool off for comfortable sleeping. It is long before the monsoons kick in however the water temp can be lets just say refreshing!

Looks like a pretty awesome idea. Unfortunately we are already planning a trip to the other side of the country for our vacation. We are thinking of a Powell trip next year. If you host this trip next year, we may consider it.

A bit far from Oregon.. I would love to go sometime. I give you props for your effort. Cool idea, a little risky but situations like this can turn into life long traditions and friends.

Thanks for the props! Will hit you up next year.
Not sure what you mean about risk there... what serial killers on here or something? No fear here I put together a trip of craigs listers once and it worked out fairly well considering and made some lifetime friends but also one or two that did not get invites the following year either!
I have learned that couples are better because they tend to keep each others behavior in check... singles are like inviting drama in one form or another.
Survivor rules can always be excersized for a vote off the boat and people can be given their money back and takento the dock. Never even came close to that.

No not serial killers. I was just thinking it's sometime hard enough spending a week with good friends and the potential for someone to get thier panties in a wad. But then to try it with virtual strangers, could get wierd. Sounds like you have those details figured out with making them walk the plank if needed. Again, neat idea.

How many boats do you need? I am in FL and would be one long hail for the boat but I would love to make this trip one year. If you have openings for people who can't bring their boat. Shoot me some numbers if you do. If not I understand. My wife is not really into the waterspouts but loves boating and would love the R&R. Thanx

Total strangers actually tend to be on their best behavior at least for most of the trip in my experience...

I have experienced both and would much prefer to watch strangers go at it a little bit and then go their separate ways than witness a long time group of friends suffer a full scale meltdown.
Another reason for only adults... one way or the other kids tend to be the root of alot of panty bunching.

I would not ask anyone to haul their boat that far... I dont have a wakeboard boat secured just yet but worst case scenario I bring mine. So right now I am wide open either way and it would be great to have you out! You would probably get the long distance award for sure!
Would you want to fly in or drive? If flying I could possibly work out a ride from either Phoenix, Flagstaff, LA or San Diego depending on where everyone is coming from and you could work out it out with them or you rent a car.

For both of you it would be $200 to reserve two spots and would handle the house boat expense but I do not need that till I know that I have enough people to pull this off for sure. The food issue would be handled just a couple weeks before the trip $100-$150 for both of you not due till just before the trip directly to who ever steps up for that. Other than that bring some cash, a check book or some plastic for an equal share of the gas.
                Let me know,
                Ray

Wow. You cannot find a better vacation on this earth for the same amount of money. I really wish I could go on this trip, but there are a couple graduations and such that I cannot miss. Great offer!

I would be all over this and could bring my 21v + I now have 2 wave runners.... But we have our first child due April 12th so she would only be a month old at that time.

My wife has given me permission to take a early April/May trip with friends to Powell/ or lake Mead for a weekend + 1-2 days but doesn't want me gone for a entire week. If you have any interest in this let me know. Other wise I am going to start planing a lake mead trip. I need some water action its been to cold up here.

Partial weeks create logistical problems! But thanks anyway!

Thanks, biggest thing I said to my wife before we decide to have a kid was I am not selling the boat.

If you are doing this trip again next year make sure you post it up again.
