is this a good buy?? New to tige

so ive been looking around at some ski nautiques for sale, but today i saw this tige which seems to be a good deal, but i know very little about tige boats. Ive owned i/o all my life and this will be my first direct drive. Anything i should look for on this models?

also i believe this model had wood stringers (in some 92 or older ski nautiques thats a huge problem) would this be a problem in the future?? i keep reading they are solid??

anyways what do you guys think?? All help welcome. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the site and good luck on your search. You can check out NADA as well as other sources that have boats for sale especially in your area. I do not know much about the older Tige's but I am sure some one will chime in.

Alot of variables to consider, if it is in your area certanly worth taking it out on the water with the seller for a demo. With something this old there are inevitably concerns but for the money certainly could be a good buy.

Be diligant in checking it out and even at that don't be surprised that you may have to spend some money down thre road to fix something you missed or just wore out.

Good luck, boats are a blast but not with our their cost!

I think it's a decent deal. If the tower is on there when you buy it would be really good!! I have a 1995 and it's been great to me so far. The only mechanical issue that I have had is the bushing that holds the prop shaft wore out. Mine had almost 700 hours before that went out. I would not worry much about the wood stringers. I have not hear of any horror stories of them rotting out. The guy I bought my boat from left it in the water all summer long with no cover on it. It was wet all the time and nothing has rotted out yet and the interior is just starting to come apart. Not bad for the abuse it had before me. I would say check it out really well and if it looks good buy it. You should be able to sell if for close to what that price is when you are ready to step up.

For a boat that old, NADA is especially useless because of the wide variety of condition of the boats. A boat that old can be pristine, or it can be ready for the junkyard, and that really determines its value. If the boat is in good condition, that seems like a very nice price. Even if it needs a few things, that is a decent deal.

I will go out on a limb here: I have never seen a Tige with a wood stringer problem...and I have roamed these boards a lot for a long time. Not saying it has never happened, but the concerns are way overblown. The stringers are wood, but are completely encased in fiberglass, so barring any structural damage, the stringers will not rot or get wet. I used to be fighting the fight on wakeworld about this issue and then Tige went away from wood...I think mostly because they got tired of fighting the fight, or it was simply cheaper than wood.
              Be excellent to one another.

Usually how a boat looks exterior and interior wise will indicate whether or not it was taken care of.

have a 93 tige and frend with a 95. the only thing we have had to watch with the wood stringers is keeping the ski pylon tight.i have changed several of the lag bolt to a larger size because they will not stay tight. and keep the lag bolts tight on the engine mounts. i have had this boat since new.
