    RockGARD Group Buy

    Gents,

One of the things that has been on my mind is the vulnerability of the gel coat on my hull to debris from the road. I'm convinced that if I'm going to keep my hull looking nice for an extended period of time I need to invest in some kind of protection. I've looked around and read other threads on here explaining homade solutions to the issue (big custom mudflaps and the like). What I believe is the best option I've found is a product that does not yet have a widespread reach in the U.S. but is sold more in Canada. Because there are no dealers down here in the states, the Steve, the president of the company that makes RockGARD has agreed to sell them directly to us in a group buy at $100.00 off as long as there are ten of us in. Basically, it is a sort of shiled that fixes to the trailer and protects the hull. My explanation does not do it justice, so check the website here: http://www.rockgard.com If you want in, let me know, and when we know how many there are I'll send it in. There are various sizes available that fit different boats. I'm sure if you have particular questions about the product Steve would be happy to answer them. He seems like a really nice guy with a novel idea. rockgard@shaw.ca is the email. Perhaps we are lucky to have this opportunity before some retailer purchases the rights to this product and puts their markup on it. Let me know! I'm sure the sooner the order gets in, the greater the liklihood of having them by the boating season. Pictures to come...

There are various sizes for different costs. There are many options/combinations available. If the site doesn't list it easy (it's ben a while since I checked), Steve will let you know if you send an email with what boat you have.

          Prices

I received this pricing info from Steve. The way I see it, a mud flap can help protect against debris coming from your tires, but what about the guy just a couple feet to your left as you are rolling down the interstate??? Am I alone on this?

          Medium is Reg $762 - $100 is $662
          Large is Reg $824.00 - $100.00 is $724.00
Large extra long is reg $1200.00 - $150 makes it $1050.00

These prices are in Canadian dollars.

Great concept and I like the idea of protecting the boat - but man that thing is absolutely hidious. I have found that a wet sand, 3M finesse polish, and the makita polisher will remove about anything on gel-coat. The trailer however is a different story - good thing for touch-up paint.
