Too Many Hours???

Ok guys I need some help...
I am looking at a used 2008 Z1 with 700 hrs..... The boat has all the service records with it and comes with a 1 year warranty on the engine from the seller (full parts and labor).
This being a potential first boat for me, should I steer clear? I would appreciate any input each of you may have..

Ive seen 10 year old boats with 1K hrs look and run like perfect and I have seen 2 yr old boats with 50 hrs look like @$$.

When buying a boat, engine hours is way down on the list. If the hull and interior look good, odds are the drive-train was well taken care of.

The boat comes from a club membership deal and it appears it was very well taken care of. It comes complete with everything except tower speakers... Which I know can be added. I am more or less worried about the potential re-sale value in a year or two with 800 hrs..
The boat has been maintained by the local Tige dealer with all records to prove it..

If it's a clean boat and has all of the service records, I say go for it!

Looks like a good price on the boat now, so the hit that you would take on resale is actually being taken by this seller. For 34k looks like a good deal. Being that it is on CL maybe offer 31 or 32 and see if he takes it.

Pricing looks good. Ive actually been able to work him a little less than that without ever seeing the boat in person.

Any suggestions on what to look for along the lines of wear and tear associated with 700 hrs?

Lot of hours and lots of use. If it came with a trailer I'd only give upper 20's. JMO

See if you can PM dom w. forte on here - he's a large dealer in Florida that has YEARS of experience in the marine industry and he might be able to answer your questions. He just replied in an old thread of mine on how the Marine Power engines don't need the spark plugs even checked until 400 hours and he has 1,000 hours on original ones. And I dont want any wise remarks from the Ford ,Dodge, and other truck brand guys out there starting an all new tread again.ha ha ha !

NO! I would not buy a Chevy with 60K, but I would buy a Toyota. So if his boat is comparing to a Chevy, Ford or Dodge.....I would pray very hard about the purchase.

Dom is absolutely right. Problem is that most people don't realize that. I am sure there are many prospective buyers that stop reading the ad after they see the 700 hours part and just move on.

It is going to be a bit of a hard sell. And you should keep in mind that it will be a hard sell for you down the road. See what boats with average hours are selling for and subtract a few grand. IMHO.

Dom. Good guess!! I wouldn't hesitate a second on that chevy, unfortunately I drove 7 hours (round trip) to see a boat that appeared to never have seen a cover or an ounce of care in two years. Paint fading, multiple interior rips and cuts, major gel coat dings, etc.. After wasting an hour discussing it he offered an 09 Z1 that presented an entirely different set of complications..
The boat looks good from a distance, but up close the paint from the water line and below is fading. The pricing offered is decent and he is researching with a dealer if they can fix the issue. Anyone have any insight on this type of fading?
I could not find any "blisters"
How about warranty, the boat only being 2 years old, and used for only one, I would think this could be a warranty issue? Thoughts? I will try to post pics tomorrow. 240 hrs on this one

You could wet sand then polish out the gelcoat. People restore boats all the time. There are some threads here that could help you out.
