Thanks for the support traded for an Axis

Hi Guys,

Though I have only been a Tige owner and forum member for one season I have enjoyed the boat and the kindness and support I found here. You have a great forum, one of the better ones I have been a member of...thank you for letting me be part of it for a little while.

I have decided to trade the Tige (2001 21V) for a new 2011 Axis A-20, please don't bash me, I know it's not quite an fancy as a Tige, but for the money it's a hellofa new boat and I very excited to take delivery in a few weeks, it has some awesome features and will be a great wakeboard boat for my son and I,(I mostly drink beer and drive, he wakeboards).

My dealer and the guys at Axis have been great and have provided me with pictures of the boat during the build process. I've included a recent picture of it at about 75% completion.

The colors will definitely make it stand out on the water...I know it will probably get pretty hot but that's ok, the seats are light gray so they won't be as bad.

Anyway thanks again for the info and sharing, I hope I was able to give back a bit too.

Just cause your out of a Tige doesn't mean you have to leave the site, there are a few guys here with BUs and MCs that still contribute much to the forums. Your the first on this site to get an axis go the best of my knowledge, I'm sure we would like to hear a real review of it as well.

Congrats on the new boat. I agree no since leaving the site because of owning an Axis. Does anyone know if the Axis is being built at the Malibu plant in Merced?

There was talk of closing the plant, but then it appears they kept it going. I thought most of the Malibu's are made in the Tennessee plant now, and for sure Axis is made in Merced. http://wakeboardingmag.com/boats/2009/12/14/axis-a22-2/

A big determining factor was the lack of a Tige presence here where I live. Mastercraft if this dominant line but they are pretty expensive for a new one and a decent used tow boat around here is like a unicorn.

The dealer recently picked up the Axis line as a price break point boat and sold the few he ordered right away. I like the looks and the fact that I could get brand new with warranty and peace of mind that it wasn't ragged out, and having a dealer just down the street made it the right deal.

The Tige was really starting to show it's age on the interior and I worried that it would start possibly having other issues. Not that there were any indications other then age and hours. However ten years is about when most mechanical and electrical problems start rearing thier ugly head, in my experience.

The bottom line is I owned the Tige for a season, spent a little time, money and effort bringing it to my standards. Put a good hundred hours on her last summer and didn't lose to much trading her for the Axis. But like they say if you want to play you have to pay and having a boating hobby is not a cheap one, your gonaa "bust out another thousand" sooner or later. I'll just be doing it sooner rather than later now!

There are NO Malibu or Axis boats built in CA anymore...I wonder why? The corporate office is still there,CS,R&D, and they build towers. The article you referenced was from 2009 and I think Axis was moved to TN for the 2010 model. The TN plant is extremely busy right now with orders. I ordered my new boat mid-December and it supposed to have sprayed today.

No hate on the Axis from me. I must have spent 1 soild month going back and forth between the A22 and my RZ2. I'm pretty sure the sales guys at both places just ran when they saw me pull up. For the money the Axis is a great value, and I would think that since the price point is already low for an inboard that it might hold its value better than the Tige. Nice looking boat, we wants pics when its done.

Nice looking Axis boat. There are times when Tige's just don't fit into the household. Once such reason is the lack of dealer support in your area.

I agree with the others, stick around; no need to drop the tige' forum because of the Axis. We are humble boat owners and water sports enthusiast. We welcome all. Congrats on your NEW boat purchase. Gotta love that new boat smell.
