    Underwater LED Transom Light

Has any one switched the old school transom light over to LED? Is it easy to switch over? What is the cost? Any links would be helpful!

My current light on my 07 RZ2 goes on and off when we are surfing at night, (which is funny for the people in the boat, but not for the surfer). I think it is getting hot and cutting out. Let me know what you think.

    Try a new switch

If you have an unused switch on the dash hook up the transom light to it and see if that fixes the problem. I had to replace my rocker switch. They can and will get dirty contacts and be temperamental.

Great I will try that and see if that works!

      Thanks

If your upgrade is inspired by a light issue, I would try to locate what seems like a loose connection.

If you want to upgrade to LEDs for better light coverage, then you are kinda limited to a couple options. The Tige OEM lights are a thru-hull style, so you have about a 2" hole in the transom. For a swap out, you would need to look at an LED thru-hull from someone like Aqualuma.

Or, leave the factory light in place as a dummy and add a couple of surface-mount underwater LEDs.

Mine does the same thing Shane and it's not the switch, has to be overheating.

The LED thru-hull lights on my new RZR use a 1/2" hole thru the hull, only the wires to go through. The LED lighting unit mounts to the outside of the boat. I added the under-water lights to the order to late for Tige to get them installed, but did get them with the boat. And Tony from Tige showed me were the factory harness was for the lighting in the back of the engine bay. I'll take a picture later to show you the mounting side of the light. The nice thing about the under-water LED lights is that they only draw 1 amp each to run.

Correct. In 08 or 09, Tige moved from a huge thru-hull Halogen assembly with a about a 2" hole to the surface-mount Sea Blaze LEDs that you have. If the OP pulled his current lights, he would have a large hole to deal with.

Mine doesn't have the transom lights. How hard is it to add them?

What is it like surfing at night with the transom light? Does it make the entire wave glow? If so, I would be very interested in one for sure.

yes, depending on the intensity of the LED assembly(s) and the clarity of the water. Highly illegal on most public waterways, but damn is it a blast
