    Washington, Oregon, North CA

My family is concidering a trip from Seattle, Wa to San Fran, CA. We should have about nine days. We were thinking about 3 days per state. I was hoping that some of you from out that way my have some suggestions.

Seattle: I think we are looking at visiting Mt. Rainer, Space Needle, going to baseball game, go to the Maritime Museum outside of Seattle. Posibily drive the coast line of Washington.

Oregon: Drive down the coast line and stop at all the lighthouses.

North CA: don't know yet, See Golden Gate Bridge. I have not done and research yet on this area.

Our plans are the stay on the coast line of all 3 states for the most parts. Does anyone who knows these area have any suggestions what we may want to see or to stay away from.

Is it possible to stay on the coast of CA and make it to San Fran w/ stops and taking and not be in a hurry? This will be our 1st time to this part of the country.

    Thanks
    Dale

1.Astoria Oregon (basically on the coast)quite a bit of stuff to see if you're into Lewis & Clark Expedition, end of their journey. Astor column, you can climb the stair and see forever.

2.Tillamook Oregon giant WWII blimp hangar/Air Museum. Tillamook Head Light house.

3.Newport Oregon, Yaquina Head Light house.

4.Gold Beach Oregon jet boat trip up the Rogue River, I highly recommend this!

These are some places of interest I've been to. I live 1 hour east of Tillamook.

just inland and north of san fran is napa valley, beautiful wine country, and if you had the time Yosemite National park is a must see, some of the most beautiful waterfalls and granite domes in the world. about 3 or 4 hours east of s.f. in the sierras though. also lake tahoe is awesome. I hate to brag but california does "have it all." I mean how many states can you surf the pacific coast and snowboard all in the same day. cali does have all the bad to go with it, too. smog, crime, gangs just to name a few. oh, and just paid $4.oo per gallon for diesel. I imagine gas at the lake to be $5.00 plus

When driving along 101 down the Oregon coast you need to stop at Bruces in Cannon Beach for the best salt water taffy in the Northwest. http://www.brucescandy.com/
Plus it is a great town for you and the misses to check out the shops and walk along the beach if it isn't raining. My wife and I go here at least twice a year for some R&R.
I recommend stopping in Depot Bay at The Sea Hag for some great chowder and seafood. http://www.theseahag.com/
There are a whale watching and fishing trips you can sign up for at the marina which is walking distance from The Sea Hag.
Depoe Bay is cool and is a bit smaller than Cannon Beach.

Yosemite is beautiful! About 3 hours from the coast though, another thought would be Santa Cruz and the world famous Boardwalk!

All ages.. Maybe not under 2 or 3 yrs old but that's up to you. Fun for all ages, lots of excellent scenery, water fun for everyone, a couple of trips from 4 hrs to 6-7 hours and food & lodging at each end.
