It's sort of 22Ve -- or keep searching for another used option.
Can I ask .. Where does the 22Ve fit in comparison to the other Tige boats, when it comes to wakesurfing?
One more thing I thought was unusual. It does not sound as if Tige redesigns their hulls as often as other manufacturers. Now being on a Tige forum, I'll probably get some subjective replies along the lines of "they don't need to, their hulls are perfect as-is" .. but .. with as much objectivity as possible, is the general consensus that some of the new hull advances / wakes on the newer ski boats, are in some ways superior to the Tige's? Or has Tige maintained neck-and-neck with other wakeboard boats, despite what appears to be a fairly long period without modification to the hull?
The 22Ve and RZ2, IMO, produce one of the best surf wakes out there. The Z1 is the best out-of-the-box surf wake, so I would put it at a close 2nd.
You would be surprised at how many of the others just rebadged old hulls with a new name and pass them off as a whole new boat.
as for Tige:
Ve: introduce in 06 and I have heard it will get retired in 2012.
RZ: introduced in 07
Z1: new in 08
R20/RZR new for 2011.
22V: ran from 03 to 06
24V ran from 04 to 06Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

I'll chime in with my experiences. I too was looking for a slalom boat AND surf boat all in 1. No one will dispute the 22Ve surf wake... a few friends and a removable 750# fat sack, taps 6 and 10mph and I am rocking. Slalom wake is very impressive for a wake bord boat. When unloaded and the spotter in the bow, taps 1-2 it is very good...
The key is speed. The boat must be over 30 miles per hour, I prefer 32 mph. If you have a rec skier that like to go 26 mph the wake is approaching wakeboard status. I have done the course and it is doable. I find it more challenging as a driver to get the big beam through the boat bouys!

chpthril just about covered it all. the only thing i would like to add. i have skied , trick skied , kneeboarded , barefooted ,wakeboarded and ridden a air chair.so i like versatility. the tige has a convex hull with a taps or trim plate on the rear. the boat is designed to ride bow high with the ability to trim it up or push the bow down with the taps plate.i find with this adjustable set up. you get better fuel mileage and a better surf, wakeboard wake with less weight.by setting taps to one and putting passengers up front you get a mellower wake. not by any means a tournament wake.on the other hand you will be hard pressed to get a surf wake or wakeboard wake that is high quality on a ski boat.the 22ve is a all around boat. one that does most things well and some great.if you are a recreational rider it should do fine.I do all my own stunt work. hey ya'll watch dis.

I don't want to get too personal but what's your age and overall health? It sounds u r younger and in good shape. You don't need to answer but here's something to think about......
I'm now a 53 yr old fat guy and not in great shape. We discovered surfing about 2 yrs ago and now almost never ski. WE have a blast and don't look back. We have 07 22Ve which is our third boat in 25 yrs. We are old time recreational slalom skiers, then kneeboarders but never wake boarding. My wife still slaloms. We love surfing because its FUN, all ages can do it and its easy on the ole bod. I can go for a good 15-30 min ride, have a blast, take some wipe-outs, get a good workout and avoid getting beat up by 20+mph wipeouts from skiing. Both wife and will surf 3-4 times per day on the weekend and Sue might slaolm 3-6 times the whole summer.
I admit my view is biased and part infomercial but one of the big attractions is that I'm not getting drilled because of slow surf speeds. BTW: when I say all ages we had 58 yr old and 60 yr old learn to surf last yr and loved it. They would never ski in a million yrs. Consider how long u plan to keep the boat and weather physical condition and age might creep into the equation cuz I never thought about this until new toy came along.
check out Surfdad - he's 50 something too and surf king.
Can hardly wait til spring

We salomn the course at 15 off 32mph taps at 2 and have a buttery soft wake with the 22ve, the older hull had a narrowed tail, and some had spray pockets also , the narrowed tail is to bring the wake in, a canue is the ideal hull for salomn, spray pockets are in front of the narrowed tail and force the water hitting the hull at the mid point down creating lift and spray to a minimule so that you can see the next buey, the only reason I explained that is because many mistaken the narrowed tail as spray pockets, Tige was one of the first with spray pockets which CC follwed years later and called their hull the TSC for total surface control.

I ski behind my 22v all the time for a rec skier it is a great wake at 32+ and with shorter rope length down to 22 off. Other than that it is rec use only. There are much better ski boats but not much better surf boats IMO. I also think its easier to get a True crossover boat like and SV211 to through up a good surf wake than it it to get a wake board boat to produce a good ski wake.
So that being said if your focus is on surfing and boarding and skiing takes a back seat, then the 22v will be great. If skiing is your focus look at other models or other brands.
Check out my post in the skiing section.

To answer the questions above, I ski the course, but only for recreational purposes, not actual tournament. Generally I just take runs at 15' off now that I'm not quite a strong/flexible as I was years before..
Regarding the removal of the swim platform, can it be done from above the platform? Let me give you a better idea: when I pull the boat in to our cove, it butts against a seawall, and cannot protrude much more than 22' from that seawall. I would have to reach down from the sun-pad (engine cover) and try to remove the platform, to be able to back the boat as close to the seawall as possible. However, if it's like our current DD boat, this cannot be done from above the platform (which is okay in that case, since it's a 19' ski boat!)
Thanks again for the truly great input!
The platform situation sounds like a real pickle. IDK what to tell you. Move the seawall back?
All this is going to be mute anyways as you'll just surf all day anyways as soon as you get on the surf wake. Have you considered the Z1 or RZR?You'll get your chance, smart guy.

I'm surprised someone hasn't said this already but if you are serious about possibly a Tige 22ve then it would be best to actually ski behind it before you write it off. You mention getting a little older and it seems the old we get the more we pull away from skiing and move to wakeboarding and even MORE WAKESURFING! If you are thinking this way at all then go get behind a Tige and see. It might move you more in that direction. Comments on 22v or ve and where it fits in the line is it seems to be the right size for a great wake for wakeboarding/surfing. Easy to set up and hold quite a few peeps comfortably and has a huge amount of storage. The 24v and ve are great boats too but sounds like the wake is slightly more difficult to dail in and some comments have been made that unless you are hauling the family and relatives then maybe a 24' might be a little over kill. But then really haven't heard too many complaining about the extra room either!
Just a few thoughts from a relatively new Tige 22v owner. Good Luck with your search. If you end up getting one, this forum will be invaluable for info and good suggestions.
