I would think you would be fine. The speakers add a lot of weight. If you put a couple of boards up there, I don't think you would notice it much. After adding the weight of the speakers, it definately made the sway worse. The tower is not necessarily bad, it is just first generation and was not made to hang a lot of weight on. As the sport grew, so did the weight of the speakers and other stuff hung on the towers. Lots of good choices for new towers. Several on here have replaced with Monster. I know Nickypoo replaced his and it looks great. What do you think, Nicky?
Just make sure you keep every bolt tight and check them as part of your pre-flight check list every time out and you should be fine. If it has been well maintained, it should stay tighter longer.
So far as the mounts, negative. That was part of the issue in the first place and it is really norrow on top of the gunwhales. What does work out nice is that the stainless Attwood pop up cleats fit perfect over the old rear mounts.
FWIW, I sure wood like to own one of those, older 21v's. Cool boats.

I got a 98 2200V, 300hr, great condition 2 yrs ago for $17K near Tacoma. Then I put another $6K into with with prop, perfect pass and a Samson Razor Tower. This summer I will add some ballast for surfing. Anyways, we love ours. As much as I would like a new 22Ve it's kind of hard to justify the extra $40K+ when we get so much out of this.
Bakes, how is that razor working out for you? I have one in the garage waiting on spring break to replace the broken Metcraft. Sure does look sharp! How is the stability?
Stability is decent. It moves a little but The only time I ever really noticed was when I had my sky ski on the rack....but then I think it was really just the ski moving around not the tower. Anyways, I love the razor on this boat
I paid $23,000 for a 2001 21v riders edition 2 years ago. It has a rediculous stereo including 3 optima blue top batteries, 3 Boston accouswtics tower speakers, 12" sub, 4 Boston Acoustics cab speakers, Alpine deck, 2 Rockford Fosgate amps, and transom and drivers remotes. Phat Budde Tower (ugly IMO) 2 props and prop puller, nice wake board rope, ballast bags, ropes, bouy bvalls, bumpers, and anchors. things we have done since: plumbed the bassast in and wired in switches. added fans for the amps in the locker under the glove box. bought 2 new optima blue tops. put a new ACME 4 blade prop (reduced gear v drive)
and about 7 tires (14" wheels suck!) Gator grip all non slip areas.
upgrades for this year will be 15" wheels and tires, built in jump cables to front bow seat and rear bumper of truck, replace carpet with gator grip.
stainless cup holders, clean up switch install with aluminum plate.
future plans include, custom tower, air captains chair, pro 485 speaker set up (or 2) exhaust difuser. deck with Ipod interface.
2001 Tige 21V Fresh Air Exhaust, ballast, loud stereo, blue v drive, ACME 1235 prop Kneeboarding, Surfing, and having fun!
