    1999 21V Rider's Edition value?

Hey guys. First of all I am new to the site although some of you may recognize my handle from wakeworld. My name is actually Brett not Bill even though that is my handle. That is a story for another time. Anyways I am getting the boat bug as I haven't had my own boat for a couple years and haven't had access to ski boat since September as my dad sold his 83 stars and stripes.

I have kind of started looking at 21Vs and 2100Vs because of their size, surf ability and in general low price. I have found a few different boats on the west coast jsut looking at onlyinboards, craigslist and boat trader. What do you think a 1999 21v rider's edition is worth? The boat has about 500 hours, metcraft tower, bimini, heater, shower, table, tandem extreme trailer, depth finder and what appears to be a basic stereo. From what I have been told and seen in pictures the boat is in excellent condition. The people selling has said the owner is super anal/ocd. It looks to be all stock so I don't think it has been run with much ballast.

Let me know what you think a fair price is.

    Thanks

    Brett

By the way I am not sure if I should of put this thread in the v series section but this section seems to get more traffic.

Welcome to the site and good luck on your search. I used jaxed, link to follow, when I was searching for my boat. Once you get this link you can put a more specific keyword in the search ie 21v.

Another place I like to look is http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=13 I do not know your location but these helped me.

Don't know values, but the boats are excellent. Built like tanks and can throw great wakes for either boarding or surfing with a minimal work at ballast. Good luck with your search. Where are you so we can help you out better?

I am in Seattle. I used the jaxed site as well. The other thing I do is google search craigslist.org tige 21v. There was a really nice looking 1999 riders edition that jsut sold up here for about 20 I think or that was the price it was listed at. It only had 350 hours with only50 on the engine and trasmission because of freeze damage. I also found on craigslist down by parker arizona. It is a 2000 2100v I think even though it says 21v. It is listed for 17500 and has an aftermarket tower. I emailed the guy but haven't heard anything. I normally wouldn't want to go that far for a boat but my dad's friend is living in Havasu for the winter and could look at it. I don't really mind driving about that far for the right boat and the right deal. Our families business buys product from a place in Turlock and can probably get half the gas paid for. I would prefer to find a boat in Washington, Oregon or Idaho.

The after market tower would be a huge plus. The original Metcraft tower was not a good tower. Most all of the different towers from back then weren't very good though. If you can post a link to the boats you are considering, maybe we can shed some light on them.

I would think 17-18k for a good, clean 21v would be inline with the current market. I would push 20k if the same clean boat had a nice tower and some ballast and a decent stereo.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

The 1999 21V really does look super clean. It doesn't have a lto of great option though. No perfect pass or ballast.

Both will have the Merc engine, either 315 or 330. Look at the number of hours, and see if you can get service records. Check the vinyl really well as it can be expensive to replace (we just did ours) and both are getting on up there. Both ballast and Perfect Pass would have been added and the stereo would have been changed out by now and would probably not be original anyway. The riders edition has the original Metcraft tower, not the best because it is a first generation tower. Check it well for cracks on the top bar. Many did not keep them tight and they have a tendency to crack at the lap joints on the top rail. The 2100 looks to have a Phat Budde tower and I think those were good towers. Check all the fluids well. They originally came with a Cutter stainless prop. If they still have it, you will want to change as it was more of a ski prop pitch. Otherwise, I think they are almost identical boats. Options were stereo and interior upgrades from what I remember. Great boats, just not as plush (or expensive)as the new ones.

Is it just me or does the '99 look like it has been completely re-done? That looks like a new interior, new graphics, new trailer, new rubrail and original carpet and tower. Was it all that thrashed and they decided to bring it back to life and try to make some money off a once dead boat? The fender on that trailer is all jacked up as well. Looks like maybe a motocross tire climbed the back and then dropped the peg right on top. Maybe I'm just paranoid.

The '00 looks pretty stock. The Phat Budde tower has been on a lot of Tiges and I don't think I've ever heard anything bad about them. Always been a good pairing. Pretty vague add however.

The only way to tell is to check 'em out fer yerself.

Definately new graphics, and I would think the original interior because it has the three logos sewn into the interior. I sure did not want to spend that money on embordiary sp? when I had my interior redone. Also has the shower and table which fits into the triangle cushion in the rear seat cushion.

That 99 looks clean, I have the same boat/color combo... And my interior is nothing like that one mine now has a few cracks and tears that I need to get repaired. I would say the 99 looks all original besides the decals from the pics. My interior is cracking between the cushions where they join together the vinyl has almost gotten hard and split.

This is the one I purchased last year.

OK, maybe the seat bases have been redone. All the ones I've looked up have the 2 piece bottom cushion. The backrest sections have all sorts of variations in them between '99 and '01 but, the bottom cushions in the main cabin all have the bolster type section along the front edge. It's the same way in my 2000 22i.

Wow, of the thousands of pics I have, I don't have any of my interior that show what I'm taking about. No matter, I still say the bases have been done.

If it has been just the bases and graphics and it truly is as clean as it looks, it's a nice boat. I would check the hull for any major scratches, ask for the results from a compression check on the motor. Also check the lap joints on the ladder section of that tower. As long as those bolts were tightened every time it was put on the water, it should be structurally fine. It will however shake back and forth pretty bad. Check the tower feet as well as the gelcoat around said feet. Don't be scared of a few spider web cracks in the gel coat. That is going to be normal with that tower and can be easily covered when you do replace it. You will replace it and it is worth every penny. It's just that way.

What else does it have? Ballast? Stereo?
