    E Tower questions

This is what cold weather does to you. Sitting around thinking about the different parts of your boat and what your going to do when water gets warm enough. Anyways my questions is for you people that have the Etower on your boat, how hard is it to actually fold the tower back. I bought my boat 08 RZ4 in september and never actually had to fold the tower back but one of the lakes i go to there is a bridge that i barely clear by about 1-2in anyways if the water is higher i wont be able to get thru there and thats the only way after docks. Anyways is it just the 2 screw things with levers on the back part of bottom of tower or do i have to also release the 2 on either side toward the front rt above the windshield on tower legs??? And is it too heavy to do alone?? Had a friend come to work one day with a black eye and cut up eyebrow after putting his monster tower down and dont want to repeat his mystake. thankxx

sounds like you know which screw to loosen.you have to take the 2 side braces loose first. then the 2 on the front in front of the windshield.you are only dealing with the weight of the upper tower. if you are worried about the weight and doing it yourself.you could tie a ski rope to the tower and loop it through the front trailer hook loop on the front of the boat.you would then have all the leverage you needed to lower it slowly.hope this helps.
I do all my own stunt work. hey ya'll watch dis.

I have to put my tower down every time it goes into the garage, and i personally think it's a PITA. I can do it by myself, but it's easier with two people. First of all you loosen the 2 levers at the bottom of the flat uprights that hold the wakeboard racks. Once loosened, you will be able to see that one of the holes is slotted. Leave that one threaded in for now and remove the other. You will then see another lever at the top of the flat upright. Take that one all the way out. Now you do the same on the other side. You can then push up on the tower to relieve the downward pressure and lift each support up and out since it is slotted and resting on the bolt. Now comes the hard part if you're doing it alone. You have to hold the tower up by the curved overhead bar and lean forward to remove the levers located up by the windshield. You can now lower the tower. With 2 people it is much easier, although i have gotten pretty good at doing it myself. I think they could have somehow hinged the flat supports so they could have been folded inward while lowering the tower and eliminated having to remove the side supports. I think that's how some of the Samson towers work.

I would agree with the above that it is a PITA, luckily i have never really had to do it on a regular basis.

As a whole I have been unhappy wth my e-tower since day 1. It wobbles, creaks and now has all these little white spots on the uprights that wont come off.

I found it to be easy, but the tower can get heavy loaded with tower speakers.

          1) remove the bolts at each hinge in the forward bar over the windshield.

          2) place a towel or PFD over the gunwale on each side to rest the billet up-right on.

          3) Starting with one billet up-right. Remove the upper bolt that secures the top to the tower. Apply a little upward pressure to the tower to relieve the weight on the billet. Pull top of up-right inward so it clears the notch it rests in and lower it rest on whatever you laid across the gunwale. Dont worry, the tower will still be held up.

          4) Remove top bolt on second up-right. Once removed, get a good grip on tower near center of rear crossbar and lift slightly so you can pull the top of the up-right from its resting notch. While holding the tower up, let the up-right pivot down to rest on the protected gunwale.

          5) lower tower.

I do it a little different. I leave both bolts at the bottom of the flat support loose but still in. I take out the bolts above the windshield. Stand on back seat near one side and push up, release flat upright and pull it back and rest on side of boat. Move to other side and do same while holding up tower then lower. I have the wetsounds threesome on the back bar. It is heavy if I dont remove the big speaker. If i only have the two pro 80s it is pretty easy. 2 minutes tops. I am also going out to my boat tomorrow and will post some pics of a way I came up with to spring load the tower for when I keep the 3some on it. Reduces about 60 lbs.
