Who would be interested in a group buy on grab handles with tow rings?

    As discussed in this thread:

    http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/show...934#post464934

...at least two of us are interested in upgrading our grab handles to the same handle with an integrated tow ring. I was quoted under $90 for it by the same shop that made my handle for Tige. If we get a group of folks who all want the same thing, we might be able to negotiate a better price if we order them all at one time.

So... if you have a 16 inch handle and want an integrated tow ring, please reply to this thread and make yourself known. After we see how many people are (not) interested, we'll figure out the details.

    Thanks!

Then you will have to drill more holes. ID be more than certain that the two already in place are more than enough as long as the bar strentgh is increased

Yes, two more holes are required to sustain the additional stress from the tow ring. That is fully covered in the thread I referenced in the top level post. The transom is more than strong enough to handle the stress. I have that confirmation straight from Tige themselves.

The metal might be strong enough, but the isolated stress on the 2 mounting points is the issue. 4 points will also minimize the moment implied to the bar by the tension in the rope.

WABoating, i don't think I will work for the group buy, b/c my handle is 38.5 inches. So I contacted Curtis, and he said that he could just splice a tow ring into the middle of my existing handle. It will still require 2 more holes of course. I will post a pic of my existing handle later today. Curtis estimated the cost at $100.

See pic - my handle is different than the newer smaller ones. Mine is on an 04 22v. Back deck is off b/c I am refinishing the teak.

It's clear that Tige uses a variety of different handles. One other owner here said he had the same handle as I did, so I was trying to help out by considering a group buy. Doesn't really matter to me either way - my conversation with Specialty Fabricators was about a single handle for my own use anyway.

I'm interested in the handle w/ tow point. Is this still going? How can I order one?

I shipped mine to Curtis the fabricator on Thursday. He said he would splice in the tow ring next week for me and ship back. Nice only being about 90 miles from him - shipping is fast and cheap. He sounds like a very nice guy and was willing to help out no questions asked. He is even helping me out on the quick turnaround.

Doesn't look like the Group Buy is taking off - but ordering 2 may be enough to bring down the cost a little.

I'm planning to outright purchase a new one, rather than send in my old one. I'm ready to do that whenever... let's see how many people "sign up" over the next week or so and then pull the trigger.

No one that I know of. I will be doing so in another month or two, once things warm up enough to take my boat out of storage.
