Boat Dock Insurance

I live on a Army Corp lake and keep our boat in a 14 slip private dock. State Farm seems to be the only player for insuring the docks around here, are there other companies that would insure a private dock in Missouri?

Do you own the actual dock or just a renter?

If you are renting the slip than your standard boat insurance will cover damage from storms or other hazards from keeping your boat "moored". If you own the dock and you are using it as a rental property and people are paying you for their slip than you probably should have a separate policy.

I should have given more info, we are a privately owned community dock association. Slips are owned individually and we insure the dock structure together as an association for wind damage, fire, extreme snow loads, etc. State Farm is the biggest player in dock insurance here, we are looking for options as it is time for renewal. I appreciate the input!

Have you tried progressive? That's who insures my boat. What about Boat US? Looks like they have insurance for docks. What about an additional rider or amendment to your policy for homeowners association? You should have some more options.

BTW, what are you paying now for your dock insurance? Just gee wiz curious.

The best and probably one of the few insurance agencies that handle insurance for a fourteen slip boat dock is State Farm. You will find that the rates can't be beat. I personally do not like this company because of the screw job they did on the people in the Katrina disaster but they came through for us when our dock went ashore 4 years ago.

2000 20CI Missouri Ozarks. State Farm insures my lake home and boat dock. I do have a rider for collapse do to weight of snow and ice. They were the only company to offer this rider. Allied from Des Moines has my boats trailers and outboard motor x4. Allied has always paid claims and have the lowest rates. M&M!cid_304.jpg

I use AAA in Oklahoma. They were the cheapest by far. Great coverage too.
