    i dont think you get what the issue is, the inside of the transom is not flat, therefor it will not be feasible to have a single backing plate that will fit flush with the transom. and it would have to fit almost perfectly to take any advantage of the extra surface area. try sticking a piece of wood or cardboard up flat against a basketball....same idea.
    you would basically need a vector valued function to establish the exact inner dimensions of that transom, because they arent perfectly parabolic and 2D.
    anything can be made in solid works, not everything can be made in real life. just because its on the computer, doesnt mean someone can actually make it out of metal, biggest thing my CAD teacher taught me...
