I have found to 2005 22v boats that i am interested in. Both seem to be in good shape, both have around 250hrs. My only issue is one has a mercruiser 350 MAG and one has a marine power 340. I would like your opinions on which and why. Other than motor I would be willing to purchase either of these to boats.

I don't have any experience with the MP 340. I have that 350 Merc though and it is straight up bullet-proof. It's only rated at 315hp, and I believe the numerical designation of the MP is based on calculated horsepower. Obviously, actual horse-power will vary. If you're going to run a ton of ballast, you might want the extra ponies but, there is something to be said for reliability. Now, I'm not exactly sure of the MP's reliability record but, the 350 Mag has an exemplary reliability record. It has never failed me and it has never failed to put my boat up on plane with 2000+ lbs. in ballast and people.You'll get your chance, smart guy. -
I had a 2004 20v Tige with a 350 merc and like what was stated earlier it is a sound engine. I put 650 hours on it and traded it in this year. I never had a problem with it. Only did oil changes, impellor, and winterization. Sad to see it go.GO BIG!!Comment

The Marine power and mercruiser both have the same exact block from GM. They are both 5.7l (350 ci) engines.Comment
